IRS audit says I received Shopify income in 2019, but I'm not a Shopify customer

I received a letter from the IRS stating that I failed to report income from Shopify in 2019.

I am not a Shopify customer.

Can anyone direct me to the correct place to contact Shopify to get more information?

If you have never opened and/or operated a Shopify store then I would recommend contacting the IRS directly to confirm the authenticity of the notice as it is possible it's a phishing scam. There is a possibility that you consented to your name being added to a Shopify Payments account for a business, friend, or family member, which would result in taxes being filed on your name. 

If the notice is valid then you can contact Shopify Support as I believe our Accounts team can investigate this further. You can do this by going to our help center, searching your question/issue, then selecting "continue" at the bottom of the page that displays the search results.
