Local sales tax being charged twice

I just noticed that my credit card for Shopify is being charged for local sales tax from purchases made through the store or when I manually put an order in. I pay our local sales tax every quarter so why is my credit care being charged for the taxes I collect? That means I'm paying the taxes twice.
