Financing, tax rates, and accounting
I recently was assessed a fee (Cali Franchise Tax) from another state for a previous year (2021) 1099-K. It ends up the address on that years 1099-K was simply incorrect (reside in NY for years) and I had not resided in that state (CA) for years. I need the address changed on the 1099-K ASAP to correct this error. I've called Shopify directly, chatted in the Shopify Help Center, sent an email to Shopify Support, and sent as email to Shopify 1099-K support. I am not getting a single reply back form anything and losing hope. What do I do and can someone reach out directly to me?

Have you tried reaching out to Shopify support team via live chat? Because in order to change these kinds of details, you will need to contact them directly. You can reach out to them by going through their Shopify Help Center and enter your concern on AI chat box, respond to it until the "I still need help" or "chat with a support advisor" option appear. Wait to be connected to one Support advisor and you can then communicate with them real time.
Hi, I have tried the live chat and the support advisor mentions they will escalate the issue for help. Yet again, time goes by and there is no help. Truly exhausting all options with little to no support for something as simple as a clerical error.
This is me too! I cannot get anyone to help me change my business name and address. My 1099-k has been incorrect for three years. I have tried to contact someone every year! Did you ever get any help?
I did! I got it fixed, but I can't quite remember how I did it. I think it ended up being through the Shopify Chat and relentless perseverance.
The shopify chat is just AI and does not direct me to any live person. : (
Write, "speak to agent" or "speak to advisor." There are still live agents, but you have to use a certain lingo to speak to them. It's all pretty slow, but stick with it!
I'm in the same situation. I reached out to have the address corrected a month ago and I keep getting told to wait 5 business days and it will be uploaded with the correct address. 5 business days later, they reset the timing all over again and say we have paused all 1099k documents from being uploaded, rest assured you will have it in another 5 business days. This is going on and on in a loop for a month. Chat support is a joke and they are using AI for the live chat feature and I need real assistance with this issue and nobody is helping.
