I was testing some new products and i realized that when i check out it doesn't charge tax, i have checked the box where it says "charge tax on this item" and charge tax on shipping rates and the sales tax collection thing. I've seen different things that say you don't need to provide a sale tax ID I was wondering if someone can help me. im really struggling and i just need help please.
Hi @llermhern,
Thank you for reaching out to the Community! I'm happy to provide some guidance with setting up taxes for the shop, to ensure this gets resolved. To confirm, are you currently located within the United States?
If so, I encourage you to check out our US Taxes Documentation for guidance on getting started. This is a great guide that helps you determine where within the United States you might be responsible for charging taxes.
Once you've determined whether or not you need to charge sales tax, you will need to register with the appropriate agencies. This process will vary depending on the number of US jurisdictions you're charging sales tax in, where your business is based, and other factors such as individual government requirements. For more information on this, you can refer to our Setting Up US Taxes helpdoc as it provides more details.
As this process can be complex, we always encourage you to connect with a tax professional to ensure you are properly charging your customers the correct tax rate. They will also be able to share more information on whether or not you are required to register for a sales tax ID.
Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.
