Please help. Taxes

I just noticed today that my store has not been charging sales tax on items - even to states that require it. I have looked at my setting - I’ve checked the “charge taxes “ box on my products and my settings seem to be set up correctly and yet there are no taxes being concluded in sales totals.  How is this even possible!  Someone please help me.
