Sell Products in US Market by having Shopify store in France.

Hello Everyone,

I am living in France and I have set up my Shopify online store.

I am willing to sell products in US market.So can anyone help me know if they have been in similar situation or know what should be done in order to register your company and how to manage the tax.

If anyone has any info,please feel free to share it with me.

The first thing that is important to establish is whether you have a business or a physical presence in the US already.

If you do, and you have a way to prove your address there, then you can set the US as the business address.

However, if you cannot prove your address there, then you should put a France address that you can prove as the main store location. 

The reason for that is because all payment gateways will request verification of address, and if you fail to provide it your gateway may be revoked - which could be of major inconvenience to you and your customers. 

If you do have to set a France address, you can still sell to the US by setting up shipping rates for that region, as described in this guide here.

For your tax and other obligations, I would recommend you check this with a local tax expert, however as far as registering, it is possible for you to set up on Shopify as a sole trader.
