Shopify charges summary and account summary reports gone?

Hi there, last year when I was filing taxes for prior year (2018), I could easily access summary reports of a charges breakdown for the whole year and also an account summary.  Shopify doesn't have those two very convenient and very important reports anywhere.  I am NOT talking about sales report.  I know they are available under Analytics.  I am talking about the charges Shopify charges to me.  How are you retrieving charges summaries and account summaries now that they are not easily accessible or completely inaccessible?  Maybe I am overlooking something?  Any help would be sincerely appreciated!

Hello, @OorjaNutrition.

Elias here with Shopify Support. Thank you for reaching out.

That’s a great question! I understand you’re looking for the account summary, not the sales reports. You can get access to the account summary under “Analytics > Reports > Finances > Finance summary”, from there you can apply the date filter for ‘Last year’.

As for the charges, you can find them under “Settings > Billing” and the charges are broken down within each invoice. That being said, if you’re using Shopify Payments, you might be referring to the credit card processing fees for each order. If so, the credit card processing fees can be found when you view your payouts. From the payouts, you can apply a filter for ‘Payout Date’ and view the ‘Transactions’ directly in your admin or export the data as a spreadsheet.

Hi, thank you for your attempt to answer my question.  But it does not answer my question.  I already knew about the finance anaytics reporting.  I was more interested in the app and subscription and misc charges by Shopify.  Until last year, there was an easy way to access this under settings > billing.  But you have removed that feature now and the only overview is for last three months.  Yes, your suggestion of going individually in each billing cycle under Billing history works.  But that means I have to manually go into billing history and go through each billing statement for every month.  Even then, I have to further drill down to find out the various app charges, etc.  Why would you so significantly increase the manual work load on all the small businesses?  When there was a clear and easy solution to see this with couple of clicks until last year?  smh.

Hey, @OorjaNutrition.

Thank you for following up and clarifying the report you’re looking for. There is a Finance Overview located under ‘Settings > Billing > Finance overview’; however, this report only dates back to 90 days. That being said, it’s never our intention to increase the workload for our merchants and I can see how useful this feature could be, so I will be sharing this feedback with our teams. If Shopify moves forward with this feature request - you will be able to find it in our changelog or announcements page. In the meantime, the workaround is to use the monthly invoices for the charges. If you have any other questions or feedback on this topic, don’t hesitate to let me know in this thread

I second this complaint.  Limiting the Finance Summary for Shopify fees to 90 days is a slap in the face to EVERY customer who needs to do their taxes.  It is simple enough: last year, you could access the previous year summary.  Now it is limited to 90 days.  And going bill by bill is extra arduous as you can't even open bills in a new window.  Every time you access a bill, you have to reset the time filters to limit the results to the previous year.

Very disappointed in Shopify to not even offer an annual summary of fees to their customers or an easy, clean, and effective way to navigate billing for specific periods.

Hey, @Michael_H_1.

Thank you for joining our thread and voicing your concern. I can appreciate you for taking the time and I understand how arduous it can be to manually add up all the bills. I can see how the Finance summary can be a very useful feature for our merchants, like yourself, if this report can backdate past 90 days. That being said, I will be sharing this as a feedback with our developers on your behalf and, if Shopify moves forward with this feature, you can find it in our changelog or announcements page. If you have any other feedback or questions on this topic, don’t hesitate to let me know in this thread.

I completely agree - this is incredibly inconvenient. Is Shopify going to tack on yet another fee so that I can view a summary of all the fees I already have paid?

I completely agree as well. 90 days? This is not at all user convenient.

Hey, @cheyannew315 & @Sak7.

Thank you for posting and I appreciate you for taking the time to voice your concerns with me. We value your feedback and I can understand how inconvenient the 90-day limitation is. That being said, I've also shared this feedback with our developers on your behalf. Though I don't have any other information at this time or an estimated time frame for this, if Shopify moves forward with this feature - you will be able to find it on our changelog or announcement page. Please don't hesitate to let me know if you have any other questions or feedback on this.

Utterly insane. You had the feature, removed it & now say "We value your feedback" and will pass it on to the developers?

Why would they take away billing hiostory It seriously makes absolytely no sense. There is not ONE person who is not greatly affected - for the bad.

I have a workaround. But first let me express my frustration again. It is downright tragic, if not evil, what Shopify has done about this feature.  They literally stripped a feature that was available and super important during book keeping and filing taxes for every business.

Here is my workaround: Unfortunately it is a paid app.  But you can use their 14 day free trial to get any important reports/data you need.  I decided to continue because Shopify has removed several reporting features. And this app's support is good.  They even did the customization for the report for me and saved some time (have no affiliation with them).  The app is called Report Pundit. https://apps.shopify.com/report-pundit.  It charges $10/month.

Hey Shopify, how about compensating us loyal customers by paying for that app?  I know you won't respond or your bot would respond by saying "we value your feedback but we can't do this".  And I know this request is silly. But I am just highlighting another payment I am tacking on that I don't deserve to.

So hope the executive management is monitoring these forums 😐

Hi all,

I've found / stumbled on a way to do this (to bypass the 90 days restriction)...

  • Go to your Account dashboard, then select Settings > Billing
  • On next page go down to 'Finance Overview' and select 'View Finance Overview' link.
  • On next page titled 'Finance Overview' click on 'View Full Payouts' link

It then shows a full list of items by date.

  • Click on 'Export' link, just under the 'Payouts' title top left
  • Then in popup titled 'Export Payouts' select 'Payouts by date' radio button
  • Put the dates you need in
  • Then select 'Export Payouts' button bottom right

It exports as CSV file

hope it helps
