I’m not sure if I was suppose to put my SSN for the tax details or my business can someone help me change it?

Hi, @QG!

Julie here from Shopify Support.

When you set up Shopify Payments, you need to enter your tax details. If you are a sole proprietor and don't have a tax ID, then you need to enter your SSN instead. Is this what you're referring to?

If so, you will need to contact Shopify Support in order to update this information. Our Support team will be able to properly authenticate your account and ensure that your SSN is updated. You can reach out directly through our Help Center here.

How can I ? It does not let me send messages it keep saying reply to a post, can you have someone send me a email for better communication? I need to change it to my business SSN

Hi I did reach out to support & still no response... is it better to start my store over and delete this one? I have a LLC not sole proprietorship. Which means I put my SSN instead of my business.

How did you reach out to Support? Did you get in touch through live chat? Live chat is the best way to contact our Support team. Since they can authenticate your account, they'll be able to escalate the matter to our Shopify Payments team, who can assist with the update. 

If your request has already been escalated, you can expect to wait a few business days for a response. However, turnaround times vary depending on our team's current queue volumes.

Whether you want to start another online store is completely up to you; if you've put a lot of time and hard work into this store, then I suggest waiting it out. You can still process sales in the meantime, so there shouldn't be any need to start from scratch.
