SST 6% (Malaysia)

Hi, I'm Ryan and a Shopify user. May I know how does 6% SST works? Does it charged base on monthly pricing plan only or including the 2% transaction fee as well?

Hi @ryan1234,

Thanks for getting in touch. Shopify will begin charging merchants based in Malaysia SST from October 12th, 2021, and this tax will apply to all aspects of your Shopify invoice. This will include both your subscription fee and other charges such as transaction and app fees.

Thank you for reaching out.

I cannot provide the exact reasoning for this change, but I know that this change would have been made to ensure that Shopify taxes its merchants in accordance with Malaysian law. Shopify merchants in Malaysia will have seen SST (Sales and Service tax) being charged on their invoices from October 12, 2021 onwards.
