Financing, tax rates, and accounting
Is it possible to have some products in the shop with tax inclusive prices and others without tax inclusive prices (not tax free, just tax added on at check out)?
E.g.
Product A $50 (inc 10% tax), and
Product B $100 + $10 tax added at checkout.
My shop is only selling to domestic Australian market. All products incur GST 10%.
Thanks

Hi @Karyn_Goindigo,
Okay, thank you. I have checked in with our taxes team on this and they have confirmed that it is not possible to offer tax-inclusive pricing and tax-exclusive pricing for different products when selling to the same country. It is possible to set tax pricing rules for different countries, but not for the same country or region.
My recommendation would be to display both the tax-inclusive and tax-exclusive prices for all products, so both retail and wholesale customers can see the price most relevant to them. This can be done with some edits to your theme's code; we have an unsupported guide here which you can try, or you could hire a Shopify Expert if you needed professional guidance in achieving this. There are also apps such as T-Selector and Dual Price Display PRO that allow you to display both prices on your product pages.

Hello @Karyn_Goindigo ,
It's Jen from TrueProfit. For your question, you can set up the tax settings in your Shopify admin as follows:
Hope this can help you, let me know if you need any further supports.

Hi TrueProfit_Jen, I get how to set up the taxes, but I have a client who's looking to have two retail products showing the price inclusive of tax, and two wholesale customer focused products showing as ex tax (with tax added/showing at checkout). Is it possible to set up two tax rates - one that's 10% inclusive and one that's 10% ex?
Hello @Karyn_Goindigo ,
Yes, you can set up two different tax rates, one for inclusive tax and another for exclusive tax. Here's how:
Hope these can helps. Hit us up if you have any further questions.
Have a nice day
Jen.
Hi @Karyn_Goindigo,
Thank you for getting in touch about this. Could you tell me more about why you are looking to display VAT differently for different products despite only selling within Australia? How many products would you want the prices to be displayed as tax-inclusive, and how many tax-exclusive?

Hi Victor - it was a request from a client.
She has two items she wants to display as tax inclusive and two (wholesale customer focused) items she want's to show as ex GST/tax (with GST added at checkout). Her shop is very small, and we don't need a separate wholesale shop set up at this stage. Hope that helps?
