Financing, tax rates, and accounting
Hi Everyone,
It's tax season. My accountant needs to know that if Shopify has collected the sales tax on my behalf, and if Shopify has paid it or not?
Does anyone know where I could find the relative information and I will be really appreciated for any help!

You can see how much you've collected in tax via the Tax Report: https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/taxes/tax-reports
Admin > Analytics > Reports > Taxes
Any taxes collected would have been included in the payouts for your orders, which you would then need to remit yourself.
If you never set up your tax settings, then you can do so by following the steps here: https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/taxes
Most new stores don't collect taxes from their customers until they've hit a certain sales threshold (the amount depends on where your business is based out of). It's your responsibility - as the store owner - to turn on taxes and collect them from your customers when needed. Shopify won't force you to collect taxes.
If you want Shopify to collect sales tax and remit them for you (and you're based out of the USA), then you can look into setting up Shopify Markets Pro (https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/markets/markets-pro).
