Verifying sales figures

I'm trying to get in contact with Shopify to find some documentation guaranteeing the authentication of a store's sales figures/reporting. I'm looking at purchasing a Shopify store, however, the current owner has made some banking decisions that have it impossible to verify the figures he has claimed in his tax return vs what the Shopify numbers say. Without a store myself, it seems impossible to speak to someone at Shopify.
