Financing, tax rates, and accounting
We use OB Online, and we're a nonprofit (with a retail space), and both of these seem to be making Shopify definitely not the right fit for us.
What other POS systems are there that are closest to QB POS that sync with QB Online? Has anyone found something that is better? I'm assuming if you're seeing this post, then probably not, but I thought I'd try!
After a week of using Shopify and it not working AT ALL for our companies we did research and talked with a software advisor who gave me a list of POS Systems that were similar to to our old POS (QB POS) and we found Rain POS! We had multiple meetings via Zoom where they showed us the POS system and answers all of our questions. We are in the middle of migrating over and all I can say is what a world of difference!!!!! They are helping every step of the way and their POS system is soooo similar to QB POS. Unlike Shopify who was no help with migrating or when things went wrong. We are so happy with our decision!
I'm assuming you're not a nonprofit then, because we met with them today and there doesn't seem to be a good way to document donations and have it all sync w/ QBO.
No - we are not a non profit. We are a retail store.
I am a not for profit too. Having all of the same problems. How did you record donations in QBPOS? I am still using Shopify, but looking for other options. Right now it is easiest for me to record donations directly into QB desktop. QBPOS allowed you to have an item with no selling price. Not so in Shopify. You could customize the price when you entered the sale in QB POS.
Thanks for the reply. Using Shopify, I found I could put donations directly into QB. Not ideal but easier for me to control. I am using Cartspan right now as a Connector but it is not ideal. It has created a lot of manual steps in QB. This is my slow season. It is not going to work for me when we get busy again. Looking for something to replace Shopify.
I am a not for profit. I had many of the same problems including putting donations through Shopify. There were hundreds of other problems as well. It just does not work for a brick and mortar store. I did work with Scott and tried to get Cartspan to work. It worked fine but it took an immense amount of work to undue the mess that Shopify had made of my customer, vendor and item files. In the end Cartspan was able to talk to QB desktop but it left too much for me to do manually. I researched and found RAIN POS. I have been working with the team for about a month. We are almost ready to integrate with QB. SO far, they have great support and training. You pay an onboarding fee and then a monthly subscription. I have not heard "You need to get another app for that". It includes an on line store, a pretty good marketing component and works on either a tablet or PC. I will keep you posted when I see what happens on the QB end but so far it checks all of my boxes. I am lucky that my site is closed January and February. We have been taking our time making sure to get everything right. I can't go through another Shopify nightmare.
