Financing, tax rates, and accounting
Hello everyone, I live in the UK and I am looking into starting my own business using Shopify. I’m 20 years old and what to know what I would need to do legally in addition to starting Shopify and also if any of you have advice in terms of taxes and registering my business. Thank you and God bless you
Hello @1Dior_x
It is a great pleasure to have you here,
Shopify is a great platform that allows you to sell and manage your inventory.
I will like to ask if you are starting your business with drop-shipping products.
If yes you don't need legal registration but you can collect taxes from other countries based on the country's policy.
But if you own a personal inventory you can register your brand under the appropriate law of your country, you can also charge your online shoppers taxes as well based on your targeting country policy. Shipping can also be charged for all product purchases from your store only if it is a personal product.
NOTE' If it is dropshipping product shipping and inventory won't be managed by you, you must have the mind of selling trending products. Research the market size, helps a lot during marketing.
Use the following tools to research the network and market performance of your niche.

Hello, thank you for replying. It isn’t my own inventory but it’s my own brand, I’m just using Printful so they’ll have the inventory 😊 I also have a question about shipping, when I’m setting my retail prices do I include shipping in my retail price or for example will someone in the USA see the shipping rate and have to pay it with the retail price? 😊
I also have a question about tax, so do I have to pay tax and do I have register as self employed? Also, when I’m charging tax for the customers in other countries, what am I doing with that?
@1Dior_x That's i good question to ask.
( If my answer is useful don't forget to appreciate it by marking it as a solution and giving it likes)
Yes, tax can be collected from any online shoppers, it can be calculated with shipping fees or profit made from the product.
You can also have a tax collector section on the product check-out page.
Regards to the second question.
That shouldn't be necessary, you can sell globally to your audience without any form registered, based on your country's policy because I don't know, maybe is compulsory to register as self employee since you're not owning the inventory.
If you have other complaints don't hesitate to keep us informed.
Thanks
