Financing, tax rates, and accounting
Hi all,
I am a Canadian looking to open an international SHOPIFY store.
When is the best time to apply for the EIN and VAT?
In Canada I don't have to apply for GST until I make 30K each quarter.
I haven't been able to find accurate information anywhere.
Also, what tax app or program are you using?
Hi there @UpON!
Thanks for sharing your query with us here in the Shopify Community.
I'd like to share some info on how you can set up your Shopify store's tax settings if you're based in Canada, but first I will need to clarify what we cannot provide support for here.
In terms of what taxes you should be collecting and paying, or any registrations you're required to make we would have to direct you to consult a qualified expert in your jurisdiction to ensure you're compliant with any local laws or ordinances.
Once you're aware of these requirements, you can learn how to correctly set up your store's tax settings for selling in Canada here on our help site.
You mentioned also that you're looking to be able to sell internationally, so check out our cross-border selling tools here.
If you're new to selling internationally, I'd also recommend you check out our Ultimate Guide to International Ecommerce over on our blog site.
Can you tell me a bit more about your business, what you're selling and who you're looking to sell to?
