Financing, tax rates, and accounting
I'm just curious if my 1099-K has been sent by mail from a company called Adyen Inc.?
I have received two 1099-K forms from Adyen with no additional information as to who they represent. I used two storefronts in 2021 (Shopify from Aug. 2021 onward, and Wix from Jan.1 to August), with payments handled by Shopify Payments, Wix Payments, and PayPal. I'm now profoundly confused as to who this Adyen is, whether they're related to Shopify (who has indicated that their 1099-K forms are not yet available) or what is going on.
The other questions I have are regarding to which transactions should be calculated on the 1099 form. Is it *all* sales made through the Shopify store, or only those whose payments were cleared through Shopify's own payment gateway. I have already received a 1099-K from PayPal so I'm assuming that the one coming next week via Shopify will be for Shopify's own gateway only, but I'm honestly not sure.
I have tried to download a payout export CSV file but there are all sorts of problems there too, with the form I downloaded not being anything close to what the Shopify rep said it should be in an answer to another forum post. I am profoundly confused here and I don't even know where to begin asking questions. This is the first-ever year that I made enough money to qualify for these forms and my head is spinning. The worst of all is what these two 1099s from Adyen are for. I've never heard of them, there is no contact information anywhere on the 1099s, and the numbers provided are completely out of left field in relation to what my actual sales were, by a very considerable amount.
