Why are taxes not calculated correctly on POS for different product categories?

Our retail store just switched over to using shopify and shopify POS last week, and we are experiencing issues with tax collection on our home goods vs clothing items. We are in New York state, and so our clothing items should be exempt from state tax, only charging county tax. Whereas our home good items are correctly being charged both tax rates, our clothing items are being incorrectly charged both rates. 

All the items are categorized properly in our shopify admin page (under either "clothing" or "Home and Garden" to keep it simple) and preview with the correct rates, but there must be a disconnect between the admin and POS...

I have spoken with support about this issue already and tried everything they suggested to get it to sync up, but nothing has worked yet. 

I guess I am wondering if anyone else is having this issue, or has found a solution to this problem?

While these might be repeat steps that you were already provided, the first step is to double-check tax settings: Ensure that the tax settings in your Shopify admin are correctly configured for both clothing and home goods. Verify that the tax rates and exemptions are accurately set up for each category.

Update your POS app: Make sure you have the latest version of the Shopify POS app installed on your device, as outdated versions can sometimes cause syncing problems.
