Financing, tax rates, and accounting
Since most small business stores rarely have nexus out of state, it doesn't make sense to assume the customer SHOULD see estimated tax on the order preview screen. In fact, 90% of the time the customer SHOULD NOT see estimated tax on the preview screen during checkout. Why show it on this screen? It should only be shown on the final confirmation screen if and only if it's applicable -- otherwise it just scares customers away from making purchase who don't understand the nuance that they will not be charged taxes if they are out of state.
That said, I saw a previous thread with this exact title that was responded to with a suggestion to modify the "languages" and just change the text label to something like "Estimated Tax (TN ONLY)" etc. However upon testing I have confirmed there is a label that does not exist in Language settings if the customer is using Shop Pay at checkout.
The workaround shouldn't be necessary because the problem shouldn't even exist (or we should be able to toggle the estimated tax preview on/off) but the fact that the work around doesn't even work is very frustrating. Does anyone have any solution?
I AGREE!
Someone has to step in from Shopify and actual comment on this or take this into consideration.

Same issue for me... I am from Canada and pay 13% tax and only have to charge 5 states tax. It is scaring everyone away showing a 13% tax on the contact information screen.
Very annoying.
