Why is shopify saying my VAT number is invalid?

Trying to launch a new UK only B2B shopify store, but while filling in required shopify payments page I am being told that my 'VAT number is invalid'.

I've triple checked VAT number tried entering it with and without spaces, and everything is being rejected.

Please advise ASAP.

I worked it out... the shopify requires you to put in international format despite knowing what country you are in so in UK you have to put GBXXXXXXXXX

Hope that solves it for you, worked for me.

Shopify, would be nice if you showed format required.

We have put in the international format despite (in Hungary its HU) but its still shows the “Verification failed”.
