Why is the new POS update reducing checkout efficiency?

the newest POS update has made checkout worse and less efficient!! Now we have to click on the search bar every time we scan a barcode instead of having barcode automatically add an item to the receipt. Our Valentines day was a mess because every transaction took twice as long.

OF ALL THE THINGS WE HAVE COLLECTIVELY BEEN ASKING FOR TO MAKE IN PERSON SALES MORE EFFICIENT, SHOPIFY TOOK AN ESSENTIAL EFFICIENCY AWAY?

I am in shock. Why do these developers not simply ask retailers what will make our businesses stronger and facilitate customer service rather than taking software that was already not great and making it worse?

I kept telling myself that eventually the software would catch up to our needs and this has made me so much less hopeful.

Its truly terrible.

Probably incalculable the amount of lost sales and extra costs that have occurred due to QB and Shopify misleading everyone about the transition.

Shop POS is missing even the most basic POS functions, it was seemingly not at all thought out or tested

I totally agree. Shopify POS is a complete disaster and has cost us THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS of dollars we will never get back. They don’t provide basic tools for retail stores at all.

I am right there with you on the lack of efficiency with all these new updates. We have to click more than 5 screens in order for the customer to check out after the products have been added to the shopping cart! I think this is the last straw for us and we'll have to look for a new POS option unless the following items are fixed:

  1. Reduce the number of times we (or the customer) has to click continue on in order to check out
  2. The cash drawer doesn't open until after a receipt is printed? - this is incorrect.
  3. The only time the customer needs to see the screen is if a tip is being applied to the order. Having the customer click multiple "continue" buttons is confusing them and wasting our time at check out.
  4. Make sure the tap and chip reader doesn't go to sleep mid-day (this happens daily and never has anything to do with time in between customers).

I have been dealing with the same carder issues and also a weird error where the transaction is sitting in processing but no payment type has been selected. I would say this happens every 5th customer and we are a store front so it really slows things down. I have changed the reader and no improvement and reported the bug with no actual help but the basic troubleshoot.

Did anyone ever get a solution yet?
