Financing, tax rates, and accounting
The whole switch from Quickbooks to Shopify has been a disaster--and cost a huge amount of money and time. Not one thing has worked. We have used Shopify for our website for 10+ years, and always been happy with it. The POS, however, is entirely flawed and underprepared for actual retail needs. There is no simple way to put invoices into inventory, bar codes have no sequence, so they are meaningless, and over complicated to generate. The printer they said would work DOES NOT. I can not easily issue a return/refund to my customer if they don't have a receipt, the transfer of existing store credits and gift certificates was a farce and still isn't right, and on and on.
There is NO customer service, no responce, and I have the feeling they really don't care and are hustling to scramble around and figure these things out. This is also the beginning of the busiest time of year for most retailers, why wasn't this done in January? Why now?
I challange someone from within Shopify to actualy call me and listen to my concerns as their customer. I'll post an update here if that happens--but don't hold your breath.
Same here, had the website with Shopify for a decade but finding this migration such a disappointment. Their customer service / tech support used to be great and something changed in the last (2?) years and they seem to be scrimping and downgrading / outsourcing their support staff which is not good for customer satisfaction. I hope they wake up and improve their support options!
Did anyone figure out the issue with the barcode printer? I am in the same boat just transitioning into Shopify POS after using online store for years. I can't get my Zebra printer which they said would work to mesh with the scanner. Chat support is slow and so far unsuccessful. Hoping to find help here.
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback about the migration from Quickbooks to Shopify POS. I understand you have some concerns about the features that Shopify POS offers and I definitely want to hear more about that.
I want to encourage you to call our retail support team, as they are available for our merchants to support you during this migration. They can be reached through our Help Center or by calling the phone number I linked below:

I share your frustration. I have been able to contact customer support and they are very polite and friendly AND NOTHING GETS FIXED. It is now fourteen days since the connector app sent data to the company file. I suspect that the part of the problem is that communications to the actual programmers is filtered to and from the help desk. It is sometimes hard to understand their requirements because their bookkeeping terminology is so different from QuickBooks or GAAP.
It has been a nightmare coming from Quickbooks POS to Shopify. Shopify might be a decent option for web sales but the POS add on is inadequate in so many ways. We spent alot of money on new hardware and in my opinion went backwards in features and service. I have not been able to sync to Quickbooks Desktop since Oct 27th. and the support is like a broken record. Send logs, wait, try the same thing. I decided to
go with shopify as it was promoted as being intergrated with quickbooks but it has been the most frustrating experience just trying to get it functioning.

I totally agree!!! A NIGHTMARE!!! Have not had shopify POS transfer to QB Desktop correctly since we started in August and is now December!!! They don't let you talk to an expert only want to send you emails and still can't resolve our issue of getting shopify to sync to Quickbooks. Our accounting is a total mess from shopify and who knows if they will ever get it right!!! Nothing is even connecting now. Have spent hours and hours on the phone with both shopify and quickbooks!!! They should have had this fixed before we were told shopify was the best to take the place of QB POS. Have no problem with shopify POS it is the syncing to QB Desktop which is crucial for my accounting!!!!!
I also am having same issues with the quickbooks connector app. It wasn't working great and most of my orders were"create fail" but it was working for all my product sales/inventory. Last week it just stopped working, It doesn't recognize any new entities - products, customers, etc... It's seems as if the development team doesn't want to work with me and shut off my app... We moved to shopify after seeing the webinar on the migration from my QB POS. Very disappointed with the connector.
Hi @HAWC
Thank you for sharing that experience here. I am sorry that you are having issues with your Quickbook Connector app. If you have not yet, please reach out to our QBPOS support team for further assistance with troubleshooting this. I can assure you that the app has not been disabled for your business and that these technical issues can definitely be resolved.
