Financing, tax rates, and accounting
Can someone please help me? I’ve chatted with Shopify support five times over the last three weeks and I don’t have a resolution.
My TIN is marked as incorrect, even though it’s correct. I’m now locked out of attempting to edit it. I’ve been given a 7 day warning to fix my TIN or I won’t receive payouts. What am I supposed to do here?
I am having the same problem. The support chats are completely worthless to help.

I'm having the same problem. My TIN and SS are both correct - nothing has changed from years prior - and Shopify is saying they'll end payouts tomorrow because they're not correct. I'm glad to know others are in the same boat.
So frustrating! They eventually did get in touch via email and had me fill out another W9 and one other tax form. I’m still waiting for a corrected 1099. I hope you hear from them soon.
Same here, I've had this business since 2019 and suddenly there's an issue, so it has to be a mistake or glitch on the Shopify end. It's so infuriating that we pay monthly fees for a service and are given the runaround like this with support.

My payouts are stopped as well and I am getting nowhere with live chat. They just keep telling me not to worry and that they are looking into it. Has your issue been resolved yet?
I have still received no email from the "team" after over a week. Something major is going wrong on their end. Definitely demand an immediate credit for your monthly plan fee from one of the support chat folks, they can do that much.
Having the same problem. All of my info matched and I have had my shop for 4 years with no issues. Extremely frustrating. Chat told me I would hear from their verification team and that hasn't happened. My payouts end tomorrow.
I contacted Shopify again Monday and got the same song and dance of rest assured, we are working on this, be patient with us a little longer.
It all appears to be a shakedown to get us to sign new agreements that contain these absurd terms. Time to go elsewhere.
Has anyone received a response or resolution yet? I have been waiting for over a month for someone from Shopify to provide me an update, despite chatting with multiple reps. My payments have been paused. What do we do next? This is unacceptable.
I did eventually get a response. It was so frustrating. If I were you I would connect to the support chat every single day and ask for a follow up. I’m sorry this is happening!
And everything has been corrected for you? This is absolutely insane. I'm starting to feel like this is some sort of scam. I appreciate you responding 🙂
They did end up issuing me a corrected 1099 which was accurate. I just don’t know why this year everything went haywire!
I finally received a response from a person who could assist me after 2 weeks. The assistance provided was them sending two documents via the app, in which I had to agree to their new horrible terms, and fill out information that was already on file. I have no idea why this couldn't have been done by one of the chat support folks the first day I needed help.
They then sent me my "corrected" 1099-k with my name entered incorrectly. This whole system is an absurd nightmare. If anyone has recommendations for another platform with better customer service that is being performed by actual humans that share the same country as our businesses, I'd love to hear about it.
