Shopify Balance is now available to hundreds of thousands of eligible merchants in the U.S., empowering them to manage their money and business in one place.

Here’s a quick overview of what merchants get when they open a free Shopify Balance account:  

• A money management account: Lets merchants manage their money where they make it—the store’s admin. Shopify Balance has everything merchants need to get their business finances in order. 
• Get paid faster: Merchants can access the money they make through their Shopify store the next business day - that’s up to 4 days faster than a bank. 
• Avoid the fees: There are no monthly fees, hidden fees, or minimum balance requirements.
• Stay on top of finances: Merchants can track their store’s performance and make smarter business decisions from the finances overview.
• A spending card: Available as a physical and a virtual card, merchants can make purchases everywhere Visa is accepted, and withdraw cash at thousands of ATMs worldwide. 
• Rewards: Earn up to $2,000 cash back per year on everyday business spendings like marketing, shipping and more. Plus, merchants can unlock exclusive offers and discounts from Google, Facebook, Apple, UPS and other industry-leading partners to help run and market their business.

To be eligible for Shopify Balance, a merchant store: 

• Must be in the United States or Puerto Rico. Other US territories are not supported.
• Have enabled two-step authentication on their account
• Must have Shopify Payments set up or sign up for Balance when signing up for Shopify Payments
• Must have a cell phone that can receive SMS messages
• Must have a valid Social Security Number (SSN)
• Must be a single-owner business. This does not mean it has to be a sole proprietorship.
• Be on any plan except Shopify Plus

If you’re a merchant who is eligible for Shopify Balance, then you can open an account through your admin. No need to wait in line, no long forms to fill out - it can all be done online and in only a few minutes! Just follow the steps below: 

1. From your Shopify admin, go to Finances > Balance.
2. Click Open account.
3. Review your Shopify Payments information, and then click Confirm.
4. Enter your SSN and mobile number, then click Confirm.
5. Check the box to confirm that you agree with the Shopify Balance Account Agreement and the Shopify Balance Card Agreement, including financial institution partner privacy policies and E-SIGN disclosure, then click Open account.
