Orders are not correctly marked paid by paypal after another payment type fails

Hello!

I have had several orders that were imported to my database (FileMaker) coded as paid by Shopify, but these orders were actually paid through PayPal.

With a little research, I found that the orders were attempted paid by credit card but the transaction was declined for various reasons. (bad address match, wrong card number, etc..) Then the customer completed the transaction through Pay pal instead.

Normally Pay pal orders are marked as such and import as Pay pal. Instead, an error occurs where (I believe) Shopify does not change the payment type from credit card to Paypal. This is turn makes a nightmare for reconciliation of paypal as some orders are not correctly marked as paid by paypal.

I also noticed that using the search function in the orders page to locate those paid through Paypal does not work for these orders. It does correctly pull up other orders paid through Paypal but not those with first attempt failed credit card payments.

The timeline on the order does show all of the history of the order, including the failed card attempts and the pay pal payment.

Looking to see if this has been mentioned before or if there is a way to fix it.
