Hello, my name is Shola and i co-own a womenswear fashion brand. My question is this- when it coming to building a community of loyal customers and friends to the brand, what would you recommend as the best practices for this in order to foster more sales and recommendations.

Community isn’t built with discounts and pretty posts. It’s built with identity.

1. Define the “why us?”
What do people belong to when they wear your brand? It can’t just be “nice clothes.” Is it empowerment? Bold femininity? Minimalist elegance? Define the vibe - build around that.

2. Make customers the content
Feature them. Constantly. On your feed, in your stories, in your emails. Ask for selfies, UGC, testimonials. Turn buyers into characters in your brand story. Put the the spotlight and celebrate them.

3. Give access, not just product
Behind-the-scenes looks. Founder Q&As. Early access drops. People want to belong, not just shop. Use email, WhatsApp groups, or even Close Friends on IG to create exclusivity.

4. Reward referrals + loyalty
Create a low-lift referral loop: “Invite a friend, get store credit.” Stack with VIP perks: every X orders = a reward or exclusive invite.

5. Be present and personal
Answer DMs. Comment back. Use the founder account if needed. People follow people, not logos. Show up like you care, cuz you do 😉

Loyalty comes from connection. Connection comes from showing up consistently - with value, personality, and attention. Do that, and the sales follow.
