All things Shopify and commerce
Hi Guys, I’ve just recently set up my online store but looking for some advice.
If you are based in the UK and trading online worldwide, how do you register your store as a business to comply with tax laws etc? when just starting out, is it best to be a sole trader or do you need to register as a limited company?
Any advice is much appreciated.
Thanks

This is an accepted solution.
Not advice specific to the UK, but in general this is something you need to discuss with a lawyer or a legal accountant in your country.
Sole proprietor vs LLC each has it's own tax benefits and personal liability protections depending on your area of jurisdiction and your plans for the business and it's best to discuss these matters with a professional who understands these intricacies.

I know talking to taxation experts is always cheap and cheerful, there is another option: automation. Also because knowing what to do is not yet a solution. Have a look at this:

Registration to EAS will result in EU VAT obligation map, which is required for the solution to function properly. The mapping is free of charge.
