Bulk add a specific dollar amount to selected products?

Hello, so I messed up when integrating products to my store and forgot to include the shipping costs in with the product's total cost. Is there a way to add $15 to the total cost of a selected group of products? Otherwise I'm going to have a long day adjusting the prices of ALL the products in my store.

@Dobermaniac Yes, you can bulk update prices using Shopify’s 'Bulk Editor' tool. Simply select the products you want, then add $15 to their prices all at once. This should save you time from manually adjusting each one

Hi @Dobermaniac,

There's three ways that you can add $15 to a selected group of products:

Shopify admin bulk editor

If you can filter for the products in the Shopify admin, you can bulk edit them in a spreadsheet-like view:

  1. In the admin, search for the products you want to edit and click the checkbox above the product to select them all
  2. Click on the Bulk edit button to open those products in the bulk editor
  3. Go through the products and add 15 to the 'Base price' column
  4. Click Save at the top to save your changes

This is a quick way to edit a couple products at once but can take a long time if there's too many. It's also hard to copy/paste values from the price column.

Shopify admin CSV Import/Export

You can export your products in the Shopify admin to a CSV file, modify the CSV file, and re-upload the products:

  1. In the admin, search for the products you want to edit and then click on Export at the top of the page
  2. Open up the CSV file and delete all the columns except for:
    1. Handle
    2. Title
    3. Option1 Value
    4. Option2 Value
    5. Option3 Value
    6. Variant Price
  3. Update prices in your spreadsheet
  4. Go back to the products page in the Shopify admin, click Import
  5. Upload your new CSV file, select 'Overwrite products with matching handles.' and start the import to update your prices

If you're using this method I'd recommend a) making a backup of all your product data and b) testing it out on 1 or 2 products first. It can be easy to accidentally remove/duplicate some of the data if you don't have the columns exactly right.

A third-party app

If you're open to using a third-party app this is something you can easily do with our Ablestar Bulk Product Editor. The app allows you to filter for the products to edit by lots of different fields (including metafields or when the product was created) and then you can apply the price change in a few clicks:

Some benefits of using the app are:

  • You can see a live preview of the changes you're about to make
  • You can monitor the changes as they're being made and export a CSV of the changes if you need to
  • You can rollback any edits with a one-click undo

Hopefully one of these methods works for you, if you have follow-up questions about any of the methods please let me know.

Best,

Daniel
