Good afternoon,

We would like to request a modification in the way orders from our Shopify webshop are forwarded to the GoGetters integration. Specifically, we want the customer's email address in the order details to be replaced with our own email address.

The goal of this adjustment is to ensure that our dropshipper cannot send emails directly to our customers. However, we still want our own system to send order confirmations and tracking information automatically to the customer’s email address.

Could someone guide us on how we can implement this adjustment in a budget-friendly way?

Thank you in advance.

Hi @homeTvilla

I see what you're aiming for—you want to prevent your dropshipper (via the GoGetters integration) from directly contacting your customers while still ensuring they receive order confirmations and tracking emails from your own system. That makes perfect sense for maintaining control over your communication.

Here’s how you can handle this:

Option 1: Modify Order Data Before Sending to GoGetters (Using Shopify Flow or Custom App)

  • Shopify doesn't let you edit the customer email in the order details directly. However, you can use Shopify Flow (if on Shopify Plus) or a custom private app to modify the data before it reaches GoGetters.
  • This requires an API script to replace the customer email with your own before forwarding it to GoGetters while keeping the original email in your database for sending order updates.

Option 2: Work With GoGetters (If They Offer Custom Mapping)

  • Some third-party apps allow email field mapping. Check with GoGetters' support to see if they can map your email instead of the customer’s email when orders are forwarded.
  • If this isn’t an option, you might need to go the API route.

Option 3: Use an Intermediary Email Forwarding System

  • A budget-friendly workaround is setting up a custom email alias like orders@yourstore.com, replacing the customer’s email in the forwarded data.
  • Then, use Gmail filters or an automation tool like Zapier to forward relevant notifications back to the actual customer email stored in your database.

Next Steps

  • First, contact GoGetters support and ask if they support email field mapping.
  • If not, a developer could help create a small Shopify webhook or API script to modify the data.
  • Alternatively, set up an alias forwarding system as a quick fix.

Let me know if you need more details on any of these solutions, and I’d be happy to walk you through them.

Best regards,
Daisy
