Re: Automated Inventory Levels

How to automatically update inventory levels on an online store?

Hi brains trust,

I am looking for a solution to automatically update inventory levels for my shopify store at least a couple of times a week. The inventory in question is dropshipped from one of our suppliers so it is seperate to the rest of the stock we hold. They are able to provide us with csv files a couple of times a week but I wanted to know if there is an app or even an easy way to upload the new inventory levels instead of manually adjusting each item.

Thanks in advance

Hi @Outbackers,

Good news. You can use Stockeo app to automate inventory updates from CSV files provided by your supplier.

I'm a software engineer. I make things happen automatically.

Hey there @Outbackers ,

Our app EZ Inventory can help you automate inventory updates.

It can pull the CSV file from an FTP/SFTP server or a website URL provided by your supplier and you can schedule it to run automatically (you can do a manual file upload as well to bulk update your inventory levels in Shopify).

Thanks Jonathan-HA

The supplier has not provided a website URL for the file. They just email it to me a couple of times a week. Would I need to change the format that they provide and manually upload it each time?

Hey there @Outbackers ,

For a manual file upload, you can create a "Data Feed" configuration in the app specifically for that file's format so you only have to do this once and just keep using that same configuration for future uploads.

In this Data Feed configuration, you just need to specify the column for the product identifier (such as the SKU or Barcode) and the quantity column.  The CSV file can contain other columns, but those are the only 2 columns required by our app.

Feel free to contact us directly as well if you have any additional questions!

You don`t need any apps to do this. Export a csv file with a couple of your products, get rid of most of the titles & only leave a handle and SKUs / Barcodes if your products have variants. Use this file to update the inventory levels - fill in a new details & import to Shopify.
