The nature of a business such as this does require a little extra work and while technology has made it easier to reach buyers, it’s also often the source of strife for those selling sex related products. You can be faced with restrictions from financial institutions, and social media platforms demand that adult brand founders find creative solutions. With that being said, I do have a couple of tips to share with you to help you drive traffic to your store.
Consider your target audience
Get to know your customer base and tailor your marketing efforts around that target audience. Are they first time buyers, parents, gift shoppers, avid sex-toy collectors, gender non-conforming people or all of the above? Influencer Marketing
Try reaching out to some sex positive influencers that would ideally appeal to your customer base. Even up-and-coming brands can work with emerging influencers who might have lower rates. Check out our blog on: Find The Best Fit: Your Beginner’s Guide to Influencer Marketing in 2021 for some ideas!
Affiliate networks
Look at building a network of other websites, blog, and advertisers who take a small cut of the sales that they refer you. This is a great video from our Shopify YouTube channel which explains how affiliate marketing works and how you can get this set up.
Email and SMS marketing
It’s the practice of sending out marketing messages to your current and prospective customers via text message or email, and the goals are to build loyalty, educate and of course sell. Content and SEO
Driving traffic to your store with relevant keywords searches is crucial. In the short term, the easiest way to get more traffic to your online store is to optimize your content so that a search engine recognizes it as relevant to queries related to your products. While browsing through your store, there are a couple of things I wanted to mention to help you out. It's great to see that you have an option for customers to contact you. I'd also recommend that you add a chat functionality so that online visitors can right away message you if they have questions about a specific item. In that way, you'll be able to build trust and reliability with your buyers. Click here to explore more. I would also recommend adding a Shipping Policy page to your footer. These are very important pages and help generate trust for the customer. Shopify can help generate these templates for you, however, you are responsible for following your published policies. Review your policies carefully before adding them! This page in our help centre goes through all the steps on this and how to add it to your footer.
