Dropshipping is a business model that lets you sell products by using a supplier.
what are some proven strategies you've used to increase your profits margins in dropshipping?
These are proven tips for increasing dropshipping profits with little words:
— Focus on niche markets: Sell goods which are highly demanded but not readily available.
— Be intelligent in supplier selection
— Upsell/cross sell
— Trade high margin commodities e. g. inexpensive, non-bulky and high markup products
— Efficient advertisements
— Reduce cart abandonment
— Create a brand for the store
— Watch who you target with your ads
— Negotiate
— Keep track of and make small changes on a regular basis since losers have no place in your business if you are going after 30-40% net profit margin.
Hi @webworks1,
When I started focusing on profit instead of just sales, things shifted big time. Here are a few strategies that actually helped boost my margins:
Negotiate with suppliers – Once a product started selling decently, I went back to my supplier (via Alibaba mostly) and asked for better rates or cheaper shipping options. A small cost drop made a big difference at scale.
Use post-purchase upsells – I started offering a simple add-on (like a related accessory) after checkout using apps like AfterSell or Zipify. My AOV jumped by around 15–20%.
Bundle products – Instead of selling just one item, I’d offer 2–3 product bundles at a discounted price. It helped increase AOV and made customers feel like they were getting more value.
Optimize shipping options – I removed products with bad shipping margins and focused on ones I could source faster or cheaper. This alone cleaned up a lot of messy profit margins.
Track actual profit – This was the real game-changer. I started using TrueProfit to track my real-time profit after ad spend, COGS, fees, and shipping. Helped me quickly cut underperforming products and scale winners without guessing.
Also — if you want more of these kinds of tips from people actively testing stuff, check out ProfitTribe, a Discord community by TrueProfit. People there break down their product margins, ad angles, bundling setups, and even share dashboards to show what’s working. Super useful if you’re trying to get serious about profit, not just sales. You can find the invite link either under this post or right on my profile.
Hope that helps.
