Are my products any good?

Long story short - I'm a graphic designer who wants to work for myself. I set up Oregano Designs back in 2016 on Etsy and then January of this year decided to start my own website - www.oreganodesigns.net

I know there are hundreds of other entrepreneurs with websites doing the same thing as me, and I may be biased, but I think my products are very unique and I'm really happy with how the website turned out (I used the Minimal theme)

I get about 20 visitors a day (which I think is ok for a site that's 2 months old?), a lot more after I've run a FB or Instagram campaign or gotten a plug from an influencer. I send out discount codes to people who sign up for my newsletter or who leave items in the shopping cart and from time to time I run a promotion to try and get sales.

I'm still mostly getting sales from family and friends and word of mouth but for the people who visit the site and don't buy anything, have they just seen it all before? Do my products actually LOOK any good?

Many thanks fellow Shopify friends,

Suzanne

That’s a good start, Suzanne!  You need word-of-mouth marketing, so asking family and friends to spread the word is good.  Hiring Influencers can be awesome as they plugged to communities that listen to them already.

Good luck brand and Influencer heroes! – #DearMishuDad (Influencer contract template is here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B084SP1R7G)

Hi Suzanne,

It looks like you have awesome products and your minimalist, streamlined, website compliments them nicely. Bravo! It also looks like you’re taking many of the necessary steps to ensure your brand stays dynamic and interesting. FB campaigns, discounts, and newsletters are all steps in the right direction. For this reason, I know it can be frustrating to see increased traffic on your site but no sales.

I find a lot of missed sales opportunities come from targeting. Don’t beat yourself up about the quality of your products! There is a good chance that they are just being marketed to the wrong audience.

I’d like to share with you some tips that helped me gain traction.

Understand your demographic

Friends and family are great first customers, but eventually, you’ll want your products to become visible to a larger audience. Figure out exactly who your target audience is and go from there. It can be a huge waste of time and money if your products are being marketed to the wrong audience. Narrow it down and focus on your specific demographic to begin driving more sales. If you find you’re having trouble identifying your target audience, certain Shopify apps can help you in this process.

Focus on Ad Design and Monitor the Performance of Your Ads

Once you have your target audience nailed down, it’s time for you to design ads that are going to appeal to them directly. As a graphic designer, you certainly know that small design mistakes  can end up costing you a lot of money.

Make sure to experiment with your ads for maximum optimization. Test different layouts, types of ads (video, image, etc), times, and placements. Make note of what works and what doesn’t. Remember, the first ad you create is likely not the most optimal.

Monitor how each ad performs. Many times, this will be more eye opening than you might expect. Different demographics gravitate toward different things when it comes to the effectiveness of an ad. Figure out what your target audience is looking for and you are sure to see an increase in sales.

Enlist a little bit of help!

I mentioned above that Shopify provides various apps that can vastly help you on your advertising journey. Apps like Pollen help you identify your target demographic and subsequently market to that audience through platforms like Facebook. Pollen enables you to acquire customers on Facebook and across the web simply and cost effectively. Through powerful automation, Pollen offers an easy-to-use marketing platform that’s sole expertise is in driving sales. It takes as little as 2 minutes to set up a campaign. Pollen takes care of the rest. It’s as simple as that! Time is money, so start your free 7 day trial today!

Hopefully this helps! Happy Advertising!
