I CURRENTLY HAVE OUR BIG COMMERCE STORE LIVE AND THERE ARE A TON OF URLS THAT I WANT TO CONSOLIDATE DOWN/RE-DIRECT AND IVE DONE THOSE PRODUCT GROUPINGS ALREADY (IN THE NEW SHOPIFY STORE THAT IS ALSO LIVE BUT NOT USING OUR MAIN DOMAIN NAME) BUT I AM UNSURE OF THE BEST WAY TO GET ALL THE NEW URLS IN SHOPIFY LINKED AND LIVE FROM THE BC STORE. DO I GO LIVE THEN REDIRECT, DO I REDIRECT THEN GO LIVE? DO THIS MANUALLY OR WITH AN APP? IF AN APP, WHICH ONE? I AM LOOKING FOR THE RIGHT ORDER TO DO THIS AND WANT AN APP OR METHOD (EXCEL, ETC) TO MAKE SURE EVERY DETAIL IS ACCOUNTED FOR AND NO RE-DIRECT WAS MISSED. I AM NEED OF THE MENTAL PREPARATION FOR THIS AND OVERALL GAME PLAN WITH DETAILS. THANK YOU FOR THE GAME PLAN AND HELP IN ADVANCE.
1X OTHER SIDE QUESTION, IS IT BEST TO FULLY GET RID OF THE "COLLECTIONS" PART OF THE URL TO MAKE THE URLS MORE DIRECT AND MAYBE CLOSER TO WHAT WE HAD IN BIG COMMERCE OR KEEP THOSE FOR SEO PURPOSES? THANKS.
It depends on your domain. Chances are you're using the same domain. If that is the case, you'd set up the redirects in Shopify first since you wouldn't have the domain migrated on your Shopify account. The redirects will then kick-in upon the domain change.
You can't get rid of the collections part of the URL.
I read many places you can go into the product grid template page and delete the collection coding to remove that aspect of the URL. Is that true in the Habitat theme? Thanks.
I also tried to send you a message but it wasnt letting me. Let me know any other way to get in touch as I have a few follow up questions I was hoping to ask you. Thank you.
