Hey everybody this is my first time posting here on this forum, I know business owners are really 50/50 on backlinks, but I feel like a few good backlinks in quality forums are vital or at least very helpful. I just wanted to pick peoples brains here and here your honest opinions on them, and what forums/websites would be good to try and get a backlink on. And a successful way to get a link up on a forum without getting deleted or banned for spam. Any help is appreciate.

I am a fifteen year digital marketing veteran and I can tell you without question that backlinks matter. Not all backlinks are created equal however; the results you witness will vary greatly depending on the quality of those links and the way in which you attained them. 

Most forums and blogs set out-going links to no-follow for several reasons but primarily to avoid useless posts simply for the sake of a backlinks. Low quality back-links will do you very little good and if abused will cause you to be penalized by Google. 

If you want real - high quality - backlinks then you're going to need to offer something that is worthy of sharing. Why would other websites waste their prime real estate on promoting your website? Did you publish a great article that informs, educates or enlightens their readers? Have you setup a guide that will help their users to learn a new skill or how to improve an existing one? Do you offer a new or unique product that's groundbreaking in their niche?

If your answer to the above questions are no then you need to figure out what makes you shareable and take advantage of that. If you cannot figure this out then don't expect them to waste their time figuring it out for you.

One more vote for the backlinks matters. And more important if you put the backlink in the related to your niche website (or forums).

For example, we're selling ecommerce products, so the backlink will be from ecommerce forums. The hardest thing from my point of view is not just putting the dummy backlink, but provide the valuable response in the forum and put the backlink. When you have the value in the response from forum, the community would appreciate that and click on your backlink to learn more.

So going further, it's not just about the backlink, but one more step forward the backlink + click rate. I believe it'd affect on your ranking position of Google as well.

Branded backlinks to your homepage are powerful, safe, and easy to get. From there, link internally from your homepage directly to all your product pages and the juice will flow into your product pages. This is the way 🙂
