Hello Shopify Developer Community,

 

I'm experiencing an issue with the Product Buy Button Checkout and Shopify Analytics where it's not showing any source of traffic, sessions, or sales, despite UTM parameters being correctly passed through a customized Shopify Buy Button.

 

We are using the Shopify Buy Button for Checkout and I have followed this guide mentioned on the Forum to make sure that the UTM Parameters are being passed into Shopify's Product Buy Button Checkout.
The setup involves appending UTM parameters to the checkout URL, which I've verified through the Network tab in the browser's developer tools.


However, this data doesn't seem to be captured or reflected in Shopify's analytics dashboard.

 

I'm looking for insights or suggestions on why this might be happening and how to ensure that UTM data is accurately tracked and displayed in Shopify Analytics.

 

Has anyone faced a similar issue or can offer guidance on troubleshooting this?

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately. I am having the same issue too. 30 days of data and no UTM data going through. Support has been unable to help.

After reviewing this, l've found that UTM tracking isn't appearing in Shopify data because UTM parameters are intended to track traffic to a specific landing page and don't carry over for the duration of the session. When a user moves away from the original UTM link—like when they add something to their cart-the UTM parameters are removed from the URL. This is normal behavior, as it avoids generating a new campaign for every page the user visits.
Additionally, UTM parameters are typically tracked when customers complete their purchases through the Shopify Online Store. However, when using Buy Buttons, the tracking may not work as expected because these buttons bypass the standard checkout process, which can lead to missing UTM data in Shopify
