buy x get y - total discount in cart

Hi there I have created the buy x get y discount via my shopify backend, however, I am not sure if it is capable to do what i need. Can someone please help.

I have 9 products on my shop.

every time a customer purchases 3 of any product they should see an automatic discount appear in the cart. ideally 5% total off set of 3 products purchased.

I don't need to limit the number of discounts they get per order if they order 6 they can get double the discount as the discount will be for each set of 3.

Hi, 

For the Buy X to Get Y discount codes, the discount will repeat in your cart for every set of products. If you do a buy 3, get 5%, then the 5% will count for every set of 3 products in your cart, not just the first three. Be sure that the "Set a maximum number of uses per order" is left unchecked.
