Can I password protect individual products?

I create commissioned paintings for collectors and need a way to make the product visible only to the collector (at least until they have purchased it). In the past when I was using Wordpress, I could simply add a password to the product and change the visibility to hidden (temporarily or permanently). Any ideas on how to do this in Shopify? I don't want to lock an entire collection, these are individual items.

Hi @rachelep , I don't think you will be able to achieve this without custom code or by using an app. You could try and use the app Gatekeeper, it allows you to passcode-protect products by enabling product locks:
1. You select the product or collection (you could also block access to collections) that you want to restrict access to. 
2. You choose the date range in which you want that product to be restricted.
3. You can create your own passcode to access the product or collection. 
4. And that is it! You can share your passcode with your collector or whoever customer you want to share it with.
