Can Shopify provide a replicated website feature for MLM business?

We are launching our MLM program and we wanted to know if SHOPIFY has a replicated website feature whereby new members to our business get the exact same website with their name or link?  The pricing and products would be the same but we want to track MEMBER sales on their websites.

Is there an APP for this solution?

Thank you!

Hi @Herbax

There are many apps that can help you launch the MLM program in your Shopify store.
The most recommended ones are:
- Goaffpro ‑ Affiliate Marketing
- Referral & Affiliate Marketing
- MLM Affiliate Marketing
- UpPromote: Affiliate Marketing

If you feel like my answer is helpful, please mark it as a SOLUTION. Let me know if you have any questions!

Hi @SugarNails ,

By default, Shopify does not offer a replicated site functionality, however, it can be implemented as a custom functionality relatively easily.

The common replicated site form of www.SugarNails.com/RepWebAlias is not supported on Shopify due to how its URL structure works. Instead a company has to use alternative replicated structures like www.SugarNails.com/?als=RepWebAlias. For companies with existing replicated sites functionality like the common structure mentioned above, a redirect can use to make existing shared links are not lost. Most companies also add a cookie when a replicated site is visited to make sure the correct replicated site is populated when a prospect returns to the site. Additionally, depending on business rules, a customer or rep who has previously purchased from a site will be redirected to the correct replicated site when they login. This is a more advanced custom functionality but also very plausible within Shopify.

The larger question to consider when implementing a replicated site functionality is what commission platform are you using to track genealogy, calculate commission payouts and handle payouts? The replicated site functionality is just a way to properly allocate orders under the correct genealogy in the commission platform. Implementing the URL structure and the proper cookies around it is a relatively easy task, the allocation of the orders is the harder question to answer.

AvadaCommerce's answer provides a few common commission platforms integrated with Shopify. Replicated sites are just a form of sharing and a way to allocate orders under the correct rep in these platforms, similar to how some companies use discount codes. I would note the functionality available in most of these platforms is relatively limited compared to what many MLM/direct-selling companies are looking for. These are more affiliate platforms with some basic MLM functions. What you will find is many shops looking for replicated site functionalities will turn to more enterprise-grade commission platforms built specifically for MLM and then integrate them with Shopify. However, commission platform choice ultimately come down to your business rules and requirements.

I would be happy to talk further on this with you if needed. Feel free to reach out to our support at https://shapetechsolutions.com/shopify-integration/ and I would be happy to jump on a call to discuss what you are looking for as it highly varies by business requirements. We have done MLM implementations of Shopify for companies ranging from startups to 100s of millions a year in revenue so have a lot of familiarity in solving this problem.

All MLM software apps, including those listed above, automatically create replicated sites for each and every affiliate/distributor when each person first signs up. That unique replicated site ( company.com/marysmith or company.com/635293 for example) becomes the page those distributors hand out, and the software tracks any sales that come through that site. Also, customers don't need to use that referral link after the first time, because the software now knows that each time that customer signs into the home page, it assigns all future sales to the original distributor.

The problem is this year they will be stopping cookie tracking which is how this is figured.  I not only am an affiliate content creator, I also run businesses that currently use affiliate links and they are not accurate and miss sales all the time

How do I find your app to take a look at it,  abovegem?

AboveGem isn't an app, but a custom installation for Shopify. You'll need to contact them to get a quote on what it would take to set up a true MLM solution.

Yes you can make a replicated site and use discount codes for affiliates on Shopify. We do that at Think Box HQ as well. Technically Shopify doesn’t support multi-level marketing (MLM), but it can accommodate extensive affiliate programs that share similarities with MLM and the direct selling industry. Good luck!
