Canonicalising rss feed pages (.atom)

Hi all,

Im trying to looking into canonicalising .atom pages as it is causing duplicate content issues for me. Does anyone know how to do this? 

For example i want to canonicalise /collections/revitalizing-skin-care.atom to /collections/revitalizing-skin-care

I do not want to disallow these in my robots.txt file as i know benefit of having these .atom pages but i do want to canonicalise them to stop the dupliate content issue.

Any help would be greatly appreiciated.

Since .atom pages are auto-generated by Shopify (usually for RSS feeds), you can’t directly edit them to add a canonical tag. Shopify doesn’t allow access to modify those templates. The best workaround is to rely on search engines understanding that these are feed versions of your main content, especially if your main /collections/... page has proper canonical tags. If you're seeing indexing issues, you could try using the Search Console’s URL parameters tool to signal how those URLs should be treated — but otherwise, Shopify limits direct control here.
