Change shop name on abandoned checkout email footer

Hello guys,

I want to change the default shop name that appears on abandoned checkout email footer, but the section is not editable for that. This is the automatic name shopify gave my shop, which i've changed in the meantime under Settings > Store Details. It's not picking it up, any clue why/how I do it ?

Email footer:

Thank you all !

Hey again, @TwoPiscis! I believe I've solved your issue here! Sidenote: the reason why you didn't see an abandoned checkout notification in 'Settings' > 'Notifications' is because once you build an automation, the automation takes over your abandoned checkout emails, so they're not find-able there anymore.

So you're correct - the store name appearing here uses the store name under 'Store Details'. Whatever your store name was under 'Store Details' at the time of creating this automation is what's presented in the footer. In order to get the name showing there changed to it's updated version, we'll want to make a new abandoned checkout automation. This updates all the information on the email, and will change that store name for you. I have the steps for you below, along with some helpful screenshots!

  • Login to your store
  • Go to 'Marketing' > 'Automations'
  • Find your automation for Abandoned Checkouts and click the '...' that appear on the write
  • Select 'Delete'

  • Go to the top of the page and select 'Create Automation', then select the 'Abandoned Checkout' option

19-19-9982-29460.png

  • Once you've selected that Abandoned Cart option, select 'Edit' and then 'Edit Email' in the pop-up window.

19-21-89505-37990.png

  • Your new automation draft will show the updated store name in the footer!

This should help you get your updated store name appearing as needed! The downside here is that any work you've done on the original template may be lost, but you will be able to re-create your work within that new draft. It does seem odd not being able to just update that name in the footer freely, so I'll pass some feedback along to the Team so they can look into adding the ability to edit that footer in the future.

This should do the trick for you! Before I let you go, I wanted to provide you with a resource on helping you build abandoned checkout emails. In addition to that, check out some resources on abandoned carts. Much of the info that makes abandoned cart emails effective can be transferred over to abandoned checkout emails! I hope you find those resources helpful!

Let me know if you have any questions!

Hey Imogen!

Super late to this thread but thought I'd jump in as I'm having the same issue. Deleting and creating new automations updated everything but the old store name is nowhere to be found in my Shopify Admin.

Nevermind - found it. For anyone else with my problem, head to this link & make sure your branding is updated here

Hey there, @TwoPiscis. Thanks for coming to the Shopify Community with your question regarding your store name in these emails. It's nice to meet you!

I jumped into my 'Settings' > 'Notifications' > Abandoned Cart notification to see checkout the template and the editing options there. Your abandoned cart email looks a bit different than what I'm seeing in my notification settings. Have you already done some work to edit the appearance of your abandoned cart emails? Or, are you creating/editing this template outside of the 'notification' settings? Are you using any third party app to send these emails out? Are you using Shopify Email to send them?

I just want to collect some additional information from you here so I can better identify the best steps for a resolution. Please, get back to me when you can with information related to the questions I've bolded. I'll keep my eyes peeled for your reply.

Hello Imogen, thank you for your kind reply.

I don't have on "Settings > Notifications" the "Abandoned Cart" notification you mention, there's only a "Abandoned POS Checkout". The email I'm referring to is configured and sent via "Marketing > Automations", and uses Shopify's standard Email App.

Hey there, @TwoPiscis and @Abderrahim_LR!

No worries - I was happy to jump in here and investigate this and look into what the cause was. Since jumping into this thread, I've actually seen more folks chatting about this so it looks like you folks aren't alone in dealing with this!

With the steps provided above, you should be good to go to get that information to change. Our Team is also looking into adding additional customization to these templates - we want Shopify Email to be the best email marketing app available to you, so we're always looking to update. With that being said, if you have any additional feedback you'd like to pass on to us, just follow up with me in this thread and let me know!

I'm also happy to chat with you about your business, and see what other sort of things I can advise you on to help improve things like your conversion rate. If you're interested, feel free to drop a link to your store!

All the best!

Unfortunately, I followed the steps you described but the shop name still remains the same. Do you have any other approach? Maybe reinstall the e-mail app?

Hey there, @imc1. Thanks for joining in on the thread here!

The solution above is how you're going to want to change your store name for these automations, as the store name used in the automations (the emails created in marketing > automations) will be the store name that you have set in 'Settings > Store Details.'

Can you tell me what you're trying to change the store name to, and how it's appearing on the email? I'd greatly appreciate a screenshot so I can see specifically what section of this automation template you're trying to change your store name for. If I can see the section giving you trouble, I should be able to replicate and work on a solution in my own store for you.

Hello,

I have this same problem. I changed the store name in the store detail settings but it still shows my old store name in the footer of all my automation emails. Can you provide any solution for this?

Thanks!

Hi there, @brsut. Thanks for jumping into the thread here. It's nice to meet you. Apologies for the delayed follow up. I've been out of office for the week but I'm back now and catching up with folks.

It's important to note that your automations need to be deleted and then re-created once you've changed your name in Settings > Store Details. The automations pull the store name from the name that is in the 'Store Details' section when the automation is made, so if you've changed your name in Store Details, once you've re-created the automations, things should appear as expected.

Let me know if you've done this important step, and are still experiencing issues.

Hello @Imogen! Thank you for your thorough solution. Do you have any guidance for what to do if the steps you provide have been followed, but the store name in the footer of the abandoned cart emails has not updated?

For clarity, I changed the store name in Settings > Store Details. Then I deleted all automations for abandoned carts. I created new automations and the old/original store name is still populating in the header and footer of the emails.

Appreciate any guidance!

Hey there, @Skillard. Thanks for following up with me here! Appreciate you jumping in and joining the thread.

Interesting to note that the steps don't seem to be doing the trick for you. I have two last things to ask you to double check:

  • Try logging into your admin via a different browser, and seeing if the name has changed in the email. If not, change the store name, and repeat the process to see if that changes things.

If after that repeated step things aren't different, then definitely take some time to reach out to our Live Team so they can look into this. They can dig into your admin in more detail than I can here in the forums, and determine if there is something else happening impacting the ability to change things. I do know that the templates these emails use a finnicky due to them being automated, so that's why there's no easy way to simply change the text in the template, for example.

If you end up reaching out to the Live Team, I'd love to hear from you again regarding the solutions they provided you. If we can update the thread to provided more solutions when my steps don't work, that would be fantastic.

Hey there, @caitlynj! Thanks for jumping in!

Thanks a ton for providing that step there saying how you solved the issue for yourself. I'm going to mark your comment as one of the solutions so folks can give that a whirl if the other solution steps don't do the trick!

Thanks again!
