Collective vs Collabs apps

I was invited by another seller to Shopify Collective, and I have also just discovered Collabs which I also downloaded.  

I am not really sure what the difference it, to be honest, other than one comes up as an app, and the other as a channel.
Do they do different things or are they both essentially affiliate marketing options?

You are correct about the part that one is an app and the other is a channel. However, Shopify Collective is actually different from Shopify Collabs:

1. Shopify Collective is a new program that lets US-based Shopify merchants sell each other's products in their own stores at mutually-agreed prices.
2. Shopify Collabs, meanwhile, is a Shopify affiliate marketing app. You collaborate with creators/influencers so they promote your products. In exchange, they earn a commission on sales generated.
