Hello everyone,
As from subject, I'm having huge discrepancy between Google Analytics and Shopify data about sessions.
Normally would be normal to have different numbers, but this time Shopify is tracking about 3 times less sessions than Analytics.
I looked at my configuration and GA datas, but everything seems fine: bounce rate and avg. session time are normal and gtags on site are fired normally.
What can it be?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Which one is more accurate? Likely Shopify. So Analytics is therefore bloated. How is your analytics data setup? Is it GA3 (UA) or GA4?
Have a look at your sales performance reports if it's UA to see what transactions are bloated. It's possible you have every transaction pushing through 3 times or the revenue is x3 per transaction.
Check your view settings as well to see currency settings line up with your Shopify settings.
HI Josh,
Thanks for your replay.
The discrepancy is in both UA and GA4 (GA4 is tracking some more sessions than UA). Both are fired throught Tag Manager which is set up to fire each tag once per page.
There's an error on the transactions tracking due to bad dev implementation of the dataLayer so I can't relay on that data.
Please check if you are using Upsell on the website, if yes than you have to add few more codes on the post purchase page.
