Do I need to add Alt descriptions to all my product photos?

Hello, i am brand new to shopify and need some advice on Alt descriptions so please excuse if this is a basic question 🙂 I am in the process of copying a large inventory from my successful Etsy shop into my shopify store . This is taking some time ! My question is do i need to add  Alt description to all of my pictures and if so is there an easier way to do it ? Currently i am copying and pasting etc but its tedious and im not sure i even need to do it . My items are one of a kind ( vintage clothes ) so i have to do a new Alt description every single time. I am thinking of not doing it but also know its important for seo / screen readers etc. Any advise would be appreciated ! Thanks Rebecca xoxo

Not every single image needs ALT because your website might have several images just for decoration, that don’t serve any informational purpose. It will be annoying for users with screen readers if you add meaningless ALT text for these decorative images. 

Prioritize product/collection images and if you use promotional banners that contain text in them, you should optimize them.

You may refer to our SEO:Image Optimizer Page Speed app here. It has an option to add ALT tags to every product/collection/blog spot image in your store based on variables such as product title, product type, vendor, tags, etc.

It has both free and paid plans and this feature is included in the Free plan.

You can assign the product name as an alt text for all product images through coding.
