Edit Website SEO boxes

Ok, so I have read on Moz Begginers guide to SEO that only the title tags are searched by google... .

Someone now just told me that Google also crawls the first 64 words in the Description box.

Is this True?

I know years ago google did pick up on the description boxes but then I thought they changed it

to only Title.

Does anyone know?

Thanks!

Hey, Michael.

You are right, however not exactly right. I will explain for you:

SEO works with the titles, yes. That is why there should only be one piece of text that uses the Header 1 size, and that text should be the title of the page/product. This will help google register the page and will help your product to rank higher on Google Search.

However, when it comes to your descriptions they are ready for SEO, but the main part that is read by the search engine is the meta description. The best way to optimize your product description for SEO is to write a 150-160 character description at the bottom of your product page. To assure that your meta description is written for the highest success rate make sure you accurately summarize the page content. Although there isn't an official min/max number of characters to use, it is recommended by Google to make sure that it is long enough to show in google results. Having a different description meta tag for each page is also very important as it helps both users and Google find your page. Especially when it comes to searches where users may bring up multiple pages on your domain.

The SEO section of your product page will look something like this.

I hope that helps to answer your question. If you have any more inquiries about SEO please do let me know! All you have to do is reply to this forum post.

Best,

Hi Michael,

Well:

Title tag is what is displayed by search engine loke Google as the "blue results" (but not on your page content) You have to make it starting with your keywords, and less than 70 characters (Google crawls the entire title tag, but displays only 70 charcters in search result pages)

Meta description isn't used by Google as a ranking factor. However, it helps visitors understand what the result is about. Make it appealing for users, with a CTA. Same, Google crawls everything but there is a display limit around 160 characters)

Don't forget to include your keywords into the url.

Then H1 is the main title of your page, apearing in your page body. Must include main keyword of the page.

Hope it will help.
