Hi - We sell rare vinyl records by over 5000 artists (each artist is a unique collection) and are creating a Shopify store. Current store is http://eil.com
We have 150,000 different products in stock (not variants)
Our customers like to know when new records by their favourite artists come into stock (ideally they would be able to mark a collection as a favourite as well as it being based on purchase history)
How would I for example send an email to customers that have purchased an item by an artists of new product by that same artists in the last xx days.
For some artists there maybe no new items in stock (so could send an email of featured product of all artists) and for some artists 50 new items in stock
Most email marketing options seems to be on the basis of "new mens items in stock" - rather that super specific. But Beatles customers don’t want emails about the Rolling Stones.
It needs to be fully automatic as we add 500 items by different artists per day.

Congrats on this business, it really touches my heart since selling vinyl was my first entrepreneurial experience when I was 15!
So, Your solution is a software called Klaviyo. This is the most advance email service provider for e-commerce, every big merchant uses it. The reason is exactly what you want! Super personalized data of customers.
Klaviyo installs a script (a piece of code) in your site and records customer behaviors it then makes automatic lists of customers who for example "Bought a Chet Baker album in the last 30 days" and you can email them with totally relevant offers. This is called "segmentation"
You also have a lot of automatic emails following customer behavior called "flows".
Long story short, email is usually responsible for at least 1/4 of revenue in e-commerce stores. You need those emails in place, Robert!

Thanks for the reply. Can you be a bit more specific about how you filter the purchase history based on the collection. And wow would we filter this allow for items in more than one collection. Ie an expensive Beatles Vinyl Record could by in multiple collections such as “All Vinyl”, “Rare Vinyl” and “The Beatles” – We would want to be able to somehow mark in bulk which collections were the Artist ones and which were not and just target to the Artist collections.
We could put the artist name into the Vendor field if that would help?

No need to use the vendor field!
Klaviyo collects A LOT of behavioral data of customers. So you will be able to make lists or segments of customers based on collections or individual products and send super targeted emails.
This segmentation power has made Klaviyo the industry standard and has given it a Billionare valuation, so trust that the tech won't the problem. The challenge is sending the right message, at the right time, with the right call to action and copy. If you do that, your clients are happy and you profit!
