SEO, AdWords, affiliates, advertising, and promotions
I started using Facebook ads recently, I'm in the process of gathering information to create a more specific audience and wanted to know if it's smarter to use engagement/trafic or Conversions at this point of the process ?
And it would be great to know what the benefits of each other are at this point
Hey there @arad314!
Ryder here, from the Social Care Team at Shopify. Thanks for posting! I'm glad to hear you're focused on creating a specific audience for your ad targeting. I'd be happy to offer some guidance when it comes to reading your Analytics appropriately for the stage your business is currently in.
The first place to look into in your Shopify Analytics is your store sessions. We recommend having an initial goal of 1000 sessions in the last 30 days. Once you've reached that amount of incoming traffic, you'll want to take a look into your conversions. 2-4% is a generally a good range for your conversion rate to be in between.
Have you had an opportunity to check out our free online Facebook Ads for Beginners Shopify Academy course? Since you've just recently started using Facebook Ads, you may find it useful. Instructor Ezra Firestone digs into the sales funnel, ad targeting, and how to review your ad's performance. We also offer a guide to help you know How (and When) to Use Different Ad Types.
After you've reached the stage of tracking your conversions, you may want to see how you can optimize your business for improvement. Google Analytics is a great tool for this. If you haven't already, it'd be a good idea to add conversion tracking to your order status page. You can also learn more in our Beginner's Guide to Conversion Rate Optimization. If you have any questions, please let me know!
Cheers.

Thank you for your smart answer, this month I reached 3400 website visitors, most of them through Facebook Ads
I had some sales, but not anything serious, and my pixel is installed since the beginning of the process.
Can you share me with the right astergy Guides to continue the way I'm at? It would be greatly appreciated
Great job on getting that traffic coming in! I'm glad you're working on gathering information to create a more specific audience for your Facebook Ad targeting. If you're targeting randomly, then it could be the case that a number of your visitors aren't potential consumers of the products you're selling. For example, if you're selling kids clothing, and targeting everyone - including people without children in their life - the visitors might not have a genuine interest in your products. I recommend continuously working on targeting the right target market effectively.
At this point in time, it'd probably best for you to work on improving your conversion rate to range in between 2-4%. Reading through the conversion guides I shared previously is a good start, but I also recommend posting your shop's URL in the Feedback On My Store section of our Community Forums. Here you'll be able to obtain constructive feedback from Shopify staff, Experts, and other experienced entrepreneurs on how you can improve your store's overall user experience. After making some changes and targeting your specific target market, you'll be able to see if visitors start engaging more with your online store. I hope that helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions.
Cheers.
