Facebook Pixel does not connect with my store

Hi Everyone!,

I just tried to connect facebook pixel with my new store but when I sent a traffic test it comes back with 'no activity yet'.

in my events manager, my status is offline and there is a message that says:   We haven't received any activity from your pixel in this time frame.

I followed the instruction properly as last time when I was setting up different facebook pixel to another shop but this time it just does not work.

On my website, the Facebook pixel helper says that there is no pixels are found and it's grey.

Matt

This is an accepted solution.

Hello, Matt!

I can understand how it would be confusing that your Facebook Pixel isn’t showing up on your new store, but does on another. Sometimes this can happen if you’re using Ad Blocker on your web browser. If you pause Ad Blocker for your new store, the Facebook Pixel should work again.

What Duanebrown suggested may also work as well!

I also recommend reviewing the steps again from Facebook’s help page to add the pixel to your store: Connect Your Facebook Pixel to Shopify.

Let me know if that helps!

Hi, @BukLau.

Tira here, from Shopify Support.

I appreciate that you did some troubleshooting on this on your own. I did some digging and another factor may be how the custom code was added to your theme, or there may be an error within the theme itself. I'd love to provide some insight. What theme are you using?

You can find the name of your theme by following these steps:

- Login to your Shopify admin

- Under "Sales Channels" click on "Online Store > Themes" and on the right-hand side you will see "Current Theme" which will show the name of your published theme. Here's a screenshot:

20-07-551t8-3kshv

Once you find the name of your theme, please reply to this thread, along with the steps that you've used when you added your Facebook Pixel to your store, and your myshopify.com URL so that I can take a look.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Update: Sorry, I waited 10 minutes, and the pixel works! Thanks!

Hi, @Tira

I had the same issue and I tried all the steps that you provided, disable the adblocker, tried shopify domain, it still doesn't work. The Facebook pixel helper found the pixel on my website, but it shows "No Activity Yet" when I connect it. Can you help me with it? I am using Minimal theme. Thanks!

Best,

Lulu

Hi, @lulu1990.

Tira here, from Shopify.

I'm glad to hear that you were able to get your Facebook pixel to work. It sounds like it took some time for the pixel to fire on your store and show up as activity in the Facebook Pixel Helper. If there was anything else that helped, could you please share the solution with the community here? I'm curious to know!

Thank you!

@Tira
I have been look for a soultion, cant find one.

I create 3 different pixel because I though the issue was with face book, still no connection

I then disabled all my extension including ad-block of course, still no connection

I cleared cookies and cache, didn't work used incognito still nothing and I change computers still nothing

I then saw what you said about theme and I deleted my theme and created a new one just incase code was corrupeted, still nothing. I have (Debut) theme, free one and I understand that your direction wasn't to delete theme but I did it because you didn't continue response and I was also thinking why not.

Hi, @Joesif.

Tira here, from Shopify.

I appreciate you taking these troubleshooting steps. I'm happy to take a look at your store. Can you please confirm what error message you're seeing when you try to see if your pixels are active? What is your myshopify.com URL?

I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi @Tira,

Please could you look into my pixel/store? I am facing the same issues as described here in that my pixel is not detecting any activity when I try to test it through Facebook Business Manager. I have the Pixel Helper installed and it is showing as active for the store homepage, but it seems like the AddToCart event is not being tracked. Facebook is simply returning the message 'No Activity Yet' each time I try to test the connection.

The URL is: Sheeqy.myshopify.com

The theme is: Dropshippinghelps

Thank you!

Hi @Tira,

I'm having the same issue the rest of the users are having. I have disabled the Chrome Ad Blocker by doing the following and i'm using the "Simple" theme.

- Settings

- Site Settings

-Ads (Allow Ads)

The Pixel helper is also saying PageView is checking out & Microdata Automatically Detected.

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, @Danielle54.

Tira here, from Shopify.

I appreciate you doing some troubleshooting to dig into your Facebook Pixel not showing the AddtoCart event. Thank you for providing your store URL and theme name.

I checked your store with the Facebook Pixel Helper and this is what I see: 20-07-031gb-7sd3t

Typically, when the AddtoCart event does not show up, it means the store is using a pop-out cart. This can happen because the URL of the page does not change to

/cart

after adding a product to the stores cart and the product page stays with the product page URL. I tested this on your store and it looks like you are using a full-page cart, so this instance would not apply.

Can you please share a screenshot of what you're seeing in the Facebook Pixel Helper when you view your pixel's activity? I can take a further look.

@BukLau and @thesupercoolco can you try these steps and let me know if this helps?

Hi @Tira

I'm another person with this 'No Activity' issue. I've been trying to fix this for 3 or 4 days now to no avail and would greatly appreciate your help.

I've basically tried every solution that's come up in this thread that I'll list out:

1.) Removed/Paused Adblocker

2.) Added Pixel Helper Extension. Note: The Extension recognizes the Pixel on my website but Facebook does not

3.) Confirmed Pixel ID matches up

4.) Cleared cache and cookies

5.) Made sure my Shopify address was input correctly

6.) Tried multiple internet browsers

7.) Tried different computers

I've attached some screenshots of everything I'm looking at for your reference.

Thanks so much @Tira !

Hi, @steinbrg.

Tira here, from Shopify Support.

Thank you for providing these screenshots and I appreciate you doing some troubleshooting steps on this. I understand your pixel isn't showing any activity when you check the status on Facebook and that this is frustrating. It seems like this is similar to what @BukLau and @thesupercoolco are experiencing.

I would like to ask a few questions to help with the next steps:

I can see that the first and second screenshots are from the Shopify admin.

Where are the last two screenshots taken from?

What are you doing to market your store?

Do you see any traffic listed in the Shopify Analytics section of your admin? Shopify Analytics provides you with a way to view your store's recent activity, see insight into your visitors and analyze your store's transactions. Check out our help doc with a rundown of the type of reports we have here: Shopify Analytics

To access your Shopify Analytics, you can login into your admin, and click on "Analytics" on the left side of your admin. Here's a screenshot from my test store:

20-07-6zqkp-tpuiq

To check the traffic of your store, you can take a look at the Dashboard and the card titled, "Online store sessions by traffic source". This will show how many sessions your store has received based on how visitors came to your store. Online store sessions can be generated when someone does a search for your store or enters your store URL in their browser. Check out our help doc for the steps to customize this here: Overview dashboard

I'm looking forward to hearing from you.

Hi @Tira ,

Thanks for getting back to me.

The last two screenshots are from Facebook Business Manager where the set up for the Pixel is taking place.

I basically go through the steps of setting up the Facebook Pixel and it gets stuck at that point that I screenshotted (last two screenshots).

To answer your second question, I haven't done anything to market my store yet.

The first bit of marketing I was planning on doing was Facebook ads in conjunction with the Facebook Pixel.

I checked the Analytics page like you said and I do have a history of some visitors. Screenshot attached.

Quick Update: I checked Facebook Business Manager and my Facebook Pixel is now working!!

I have no idea what made the Pixel go Active as I haven't touched it since yesterday.

One one hand I'm happy it got fixed, but at the same time I'm frustrated how hard that was and I still have no idea what fixed it lol.

Thank you for the details! If you're planning to use your Facebook Pixel for setting up Facebook ads, I recommend checking out our blog post Facebook Ads for Beginners: A Step-By-Step Guide to Running Your First Campaign for tips to set this up and creating your ads.

Hi @Tira,

Thanks for the article. I'll check it out.

To share with the community about how I confirmed this I basically went to 'Business Settings' on the Facebook Business Manager site and saw that my pixel went from a 'red light' to a 'green light' which meant it was now Active.

Again, I have no idea what made it Active, I didn't touch it between the time it was Inactive to the time it went to Active. It was like as soon as you checked out my issue the pixel went to Active.

I'm thinking it might have something to do with a 3rd party viewing your Shopify page. In the stage where everyone is getting stuck it says to send 'Test Traffic' and Facebook doesn't recognize it. I'm guessing it recognized 3rd party traffic once someone visited my website. Again this is all just a guess.

Here's the screenshots that confirmed to me that my Pixel was up and working.

Ignore the fact that they're two different Pixel IDs. I tried everything including making multiple Pixels and the one with the 'red dot' is an example of what everyone who is stuck is seeing.

The 'green dot' is what everyone wants to see.

Screen Shot 2020-07-19 at 11.21.50 AM.pngScreen Shot 2020-07-19 at 11.21.40 AM.png

Again I wish I had a definitive answer to what fixed it for me but I don't. Just seems like dumb luck. I have my guess on what may have made it work above ^^ but I'm not sure if that's actually what made it work for me or not.

I personally think Facebook has way overcomplicated the process and probably has a bug on their part they need to fix. It's a shame they don't have someone on their site to help people with this issue.

Hi @Tira and @steinbrg ,

I am seeing the exact same issue as you were:

- I have set up the Facebook Pixel with the correct instructions for my website (www.leafyclean.shop),

(screenshot from the Facebook Events Manager)

crepoux90_0-1595293590579.png

(Screenshot from my Shopify dashboard)

crepoux90_1-1595293672970.png

- The Facebook Pixel Chrome Extension shows that my Pixel is set up correctly

crepoux90_2-1595293751338.png

- I have cleared my cache, cookies, changed browser and computer,

- Yet when I try to "Sent Test Traffic" to my site, it still shows as "No Activity Yet"

crepoux90_3-1595293880043.png

@steinbrg , is your advice to just wait? @Tira , would you have any other insights? Could you let me know if you are seeing activity with your Facebook Pixel Chrome Extension? Thank you in advance for your support. I would truly like to not waste too much time on this step...

Hey, @crepoux90.

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing a similar issue and I appreciate you troubleshooting this on your own. I checked your store and I do see that your pixel is active. Here's a screenshot of my Facebook Pixel Helper:

From what I've understood based on the insights of the Shopify Community members here, it sounds like the "No Activity Yet" error on Facebook is resolved after waiting for a period of time. I would suggest giving this some time to appear. Sometimes there can be discrepancies in the reports of other analytic platforms where the results shown are different from one platform to another. Check out our help doc with reasons on why a discrepancy can occur: Analytics discrepancies

I'm having the very same issue. I'm going to try out Steinberg's advice of triggering it from a 3rd party visitor and get back to this thread... Going to implement my pixel then ask a couple people to go to the site and check back tomorrow. If it fires up I'll deduce that for some reason FB's testing event feature is bugged.

UPDATE PENDING!!!

@cbiddle42 & @Tira Any updates on the issue? I'm having the same exact issues. I have turned off ad-blockers, disabled all of my extensions, deleted the pixel ID on my shopify store and re-pasted it back in, and nothing has resolved the "No activity yet" issue. I have installed Facebook Pixel Helper and it does confirm that I have One pixel installed onto my shopify store, but my Facebook Business settings say otherwise with a "No activity yet" message.

UPDATE: My pixel randomly connected after just leaving it on the "Send Test Traffic" setup page after trying to send test traffic. I did fiddle around with my site and stuff while the page was up in a separate tab and then I checked back and it connected after ~20 minutes. So that's a good sign! But it doesn't seem to operating properly still. When I try to test events it doesn't seem to work and I've even tried to test events on another computer but it doesn't update. I'm going to just play the patience card because that seemed to work! Will update of course if I start to see success.

Unfortunately my pixel is still not firing... What's weird is it seemed to be working just fine when all I had done was connect my FB account via the Shopify Facebook App, but I tried to implement a new pixel and that's when everything broke.

I tried simply going back to exclusively having the pixel come from my Shopify Facebook App but now that doesn't even work.

Now I'm pretty much out of ideas... I'm going to just try to send test traffic to my site all day today and see if eventually it updates... I now have a pixel from my FB-Shopify App connection AND a custom pixel that I'm implemented -- Neither are firing but BOTH say they're working on Facebook Pixel Helper.

I'm concerned it's a bug that needs to be fixed because I can't understand how everything looks perfect from our end but FB just simply can't connect.

This is incredibly frustrating because this data tracking methodology is paramount to a successful e-commerce store so our shops are out there with a broken arm right now. Quite literally unable to be as successful as possible! Really really frustrating.

Hello

my pixel will still not work,

have tried clearing my cookies, have tried disabling ad blocker, nothings working, my site is not open to public yet? Is this why? Even though when I test I’m logged into the site ?

Hey, @bohotrader.

Thanks for reaching out. Yes, that's correct, by default, each Shopify store will have a password protected page enabled so that you can build your store and keep it private until you're ready to launch. If you want to test your Facebook Pixel, you will need to remove this password page.

Here are the steps to remove your password page:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Preferences.

  2. Go to the Password protection area.

  3. Uncheck Enable password.

  4. Click Save.

We also have these steps listed in our help doc here: Remove your password protection page

Once you've removed your password protection page, I recommend taking a look at your store and checking to see if your Facebook Pixel Helper is showing your Facebook Pixels.

If you would like to put your password page back on your store, here are the steps from our help doc: Add password protection to your online store.

We would love to know if this helps!

Cheers,

I was having the exact same issue. Facebook Pixel Helper was detecting the pixel but Facebook kept showing No Activity Yet. I had to turn my phone's wifi off, navigate to my store, I guess to trigger an outside source. That finally set my Pixel to active.

Hi guys,

I think I have confirmed the solution.

Just want to share everyone out there who's struggling with such a frustrating issue.

The trick is to view your store from a 3rd source from a different data connection. For example viewing your store from your Phone NOT ON WIFI.
By accessing your store that way, it fires off the Pixel as Active.
It's worked for me a couple times now so I think it's the answer.

It's unfortunate that Facebook can't get that part right and has made it such a hassle but at least there's something I found that worked for me.
I hope it works for you as well.

This was my solution many fortnights ago, I'm not sure if this is helpful but wanted to plop it in here in case it's helpful!

SOLVED BY @Nick105 :

I had the same problem with this and I'm not new to setting up pixels on websites. I was very confused as the pixel helper could see it, but ads manager wasn't getting anything.Previously, I had used the shop preferences with the correct pixel ID and the pixel helper didn't find it. I then installed the code manually and the pixel helper found it but I still couldn't get ads manager to see it.

The solve was to go to events manager and then click on settings.

I scrolled down and turned on both "Enable full use of Customer Data under our Business Tools Terms from this data source unless an event has a Limited Data Use flag" and

"Automatic Advanced Matching" and then sent test traffic again in the overview and it magically worked. Wasted a lot of time for such a simple fix, but I hope that helps some other people.
Works now!!

If you are still facing any issue with Shopify facebook pixel you can try trackify X - that help you integrate as many pixels as you want which can be used to track custom events and parameters based on your goals. Also, create catalogs and which automatically syncs with event data on a daily basis which then can be used for Facebook retargeting ads (DPA).

Hey Matt..

If you are running Facebook Ads then your tracking is the most important part to focus.

Because Data is everything for facebook ads. and all you data is in your pixel.

Your pixel segments your data with events, and every event fires when the traffic performs any action on the website, for example View content means when some one visits your product page so facebook segment that type of audience in the View Content event and allows you to use that segment anyway you want.

now imagine if you can make more detail segments of data, like the visitors who spend more time on your website and also check your customer review, they are 100% more warm then the traffic who just bounce of after landing on your product page.

So i suggest every one to segment your data more and more and try to find the exact set of audience which are converting,

and for that i always use a shopify app called WinAds,

WinAds gives me the advance segmentation in the shape of hyper event like.

PageScroll,

Time Spent,

Showed Interest,

Customer Tagging,

High Spender,

Abandon Cart,

Still Thinking,

Prospect.

So many more segment to make custom audience and new look alike this is a dream come true for facebook marketers do check them out!!
