FB Budget Pacing Question

My question: If I'm using Facebook ads to drive initial traffic (and in turn feed data into the FB pixel, so that I can eventually do remarketing and lookalike campaigns), is it best to spend a lot up front to gain the initial data quickly OR pace it out? For example, if I have $1000, is it better to:

  1. Set a daily limit of $200 and use it over 5 days?
    OR
  2. Set a daily limit of $25 and use it over 40 days?

The above scenario is just for example. The question is just theoretically, is there any benefit to spending slowly...? (if the objective is to get that initial data)

(Note: I do realize there are other marketing options to drive traffic and data, but my question is just specific to if I've decided to go with FB in my case. :))

Hi 3peat,

from my experience, I would choose the second option.

If you do so, you can better optimize your campaign, ad set and ad settings. E.g. You can run the campaign for a couple of days and afterwards assess the performance and make changes (optimization, conversion event, audience, ad copy...) to see what works better.

if you spend the entire budget in a few days, you would have to make changes pretty fast (more changes during a day) - this isn’t good for the learning phase of the ads and you won’t see what changes had the biggest effect.

Send me a link to your store to niki@hey.com and I'll help you out.

What audience you are targeting too? Have you added some specific filters like lookalikes or retargeting audiences? If you are generally advertising to any people basis on only on the country, you might be setting up things terribly wrong.

Use this campaigns, we have seen our clients getting significant part of their sales by following below strategies:

  • Cart abandoned campaigns - Show ads to people who have left cart abandoned on your store
  • Best Seller Campaigns - Show people who visited your store in the last 30 days, a carousel ad of the best seller in your store. The data is refreshed on daily basis.
  • Discounts/Sales Campaigns - Give discount coupons to your existing customers who might be interested in a product
  • Prospecting Campaigns - Find new audience which are similar to people who have visited or purchased from your store.
  • Social Media Base Campaigns- Target audience who engaged with your social media posts/ads.
  • Cross-sell /Upsell Campaigns- Cross sell or upsell products to audience who have already made a purchase from your store
