SEO, AdWords, affiliates, advertising, and promotions
Hi guys,
Been banging my head on this for the last 2 days, hopefully, someone can help me figure out the unchecked checkbox.
What I've done:
Created Pixel on Business Manager Account which is tracking data (as shown on print screen)FB Pixel activity
FB Pixel Helper
Created FB Catalog with CSV data feed, with matching ID's
created catalog manually initially; didn't work.
created catalog trough Shopify integration; didn't work.
Catalog Settings
Catalog Product
Is there anything obvious that I'm missing?
I feel like this should be way easier then what I've been through.
Thanks for your reading time, and your help.

Hi @SergioGP,
Paula here from Shopify. Good question!
Considering all your screenshots and error presented it looks like you are trying to associate your product catalog with your Facebook Pixel.
I must clarify that products catalog is owned by Shopify. This is the behaviour expected when the Facebook channel is connected to any Shopify store! It is not possible (or required) to change the ownership of this catalog.
Because of this, the merchant needs to create a separate, self owned product catalog and add a product 'feed' to it instead.
You then need to add your feed URL to a new product catalog following these steps:
1) Open your FB business manager account then click assets > catalogs:
2) Click ‘create catalog’:
3) Select a category such as ‘e-commerce’:
4) Select ‘upload product info’ and ensure you own the catalog:
5) View the newly created catalog then click product data sources > add data source > add new product:
6) Select ‘use data feeds’:
7) Select ‘set a schedule’ then paste the feed URL provided by Flexify:
😎 You can then connect your Facebook pixel to your catalog by going to event data sources > connect to tracking:
9) Then select your pixel ID from the list of available pixels (ensuring it matches the one that’s been added under online store > preferences in your Shopify account). Then click ‘done’:
After those steps this catalog can now be used for dynamic ad purposes.
Hope that helps and don't hesitate to ask should you have any other questions.
All the best, Paula.

Thanks @Paula that worked like a charm.
My inside nerd still wanted to know why I didn't work in the first place, and it might help other people to figure it out.
So the problem is a simple wording ambiguity.
I was trying to match Shopify's given "content_ids" (from Pixel Helper) with the "Content ID" in my facebook catalog.
Shopify's "content-ids" matches FB catalog "Content ID"
The solution is that the Shopify's given "content_ids" has to match the "Item Group ID"
"Content ID" is for the product variation number!
Anyways it works for me!
I'm still going to set up the Feed trough CSV for easier bulk update.
Thank you for you time!
(I appreciate the fact that you also uploaded explanatory pictures like I did)

Hi Sergio,
How did you match the ID's in the first place?
The id's i get from the pixel and the product catalog are different and i cant seem to figure out how to change one (or the other) to match them like you described in your last message.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Jai
Awesome.. Thanks a lot.
Hi jaihowit,
Apologise for the late answer, hope you've either figured it out or that this answer will help you.
So to the ID's;
Shopify's product ID you CAN NOT change. You can find out the ID given by Shopify with the help of a browser extension called Facebook Pixel helper.
And so your only option is to change the ID where you can.
Which in this case is in your facebook catalogue.
Now, there's a couple ways to do this:>
Let me know if this helped you out.
Cheers,
Sergio
You're welcome!
Glad to hear that it helped you out 🙂
Hi @Paula
In this case, if the catalogue owner will be Shopify and we are not able to connect a fb pixel to the catalogue, what's the point of creating this catalogue, especially if we are required to create a separate catalogue using Flexify?
Can you please kindly clarify this? I've been searching in the forums for a long time but couldn't find a solution.
Thanks a lot!
Best regards,
Ying ming
Hi @SergioGP
I've done what you've described here, but is still unable to see any "Events with matched content IDs".
My Shopify Content ID is already matching the Item Group ID.
Appreciate your help, been trying to solve this but couldn't find an answer anywhere.
Best regards,
Ying Ming
Hi
But where I can find "Item group Id"?
Make sure your adblocker is off when using your "Facebook Pixel Helper" to confirm that the pixel is communicating properly with the catalog.
Romchy here from Shopify Feed Product.
I’ll explain the steps now to you how to solve your problems so that you can safely go about your business tasks)
- Getting Pixel Facebook:
A pixel can be created from two different Facebook accounts:
1. In your personal account in events manager;
2. In Business Manager (recommended). I’ll tell you more about him:
- Create a Business Manager if you don’t have one, if you have one, make sure that you are an administrator.
- Go to the campaign settings in Business Manager
- Choose your company
- Click Data Sources
- Select Pixels
- Click + Add
- Enter a pixel name
- Not necessary. Enter the site URL.
- Click Continue.
- Insert pixel ID from the beginning:
1. Log in to your shopify account.
2. Enter the store
3. Insert the pixel id:
a) go to sales channels,
b) go to the online store,
c) go to preferences
d) we find the facebook (Instagram) pixel ID field, and insert the ID of our pixel into it.
4. Save below.
- Now upload the goods from shopify to facebook (Instagram):
1. Install the feed product application here
2. Activate the free version
3. Take the link to your feed in the facebook Instagram tab. More detailed instruction https://feed-product.com/help_center/how_configure.html
4. Follow the link to connect catalog https://www.facebook.com/products
5. Click on create directory and connect the link taken from Feed product. Here is a detailed step-by-step instruction: https://feed-product.com/help_center/how_setup_facebook_catalog_feed.html
Now you have all the tools to create a dynamic remarketing advertising campaign and attract a thematic audience. You can also work with those who left the basket of your store and return them to complete the shopping)!
Good luck with your advertising campaigns)!

Hi, I just having the same problem than you, i can not use feed product because i don't have point of sale... If i have a product in my store which i am advertising in fb, but when i tried to upload to facebook shop i can't because I suppose fb doesn't like my description. Is it mandatory to upload this product to the facebook shop?
Everything was ok till I get an issue pixel message saying that 88% of add to cart fewer
I hear you man. You wrote this only 6 days ago. Did you sort it out? I found out about this yesterday evening and couldn't solve it. It used to be "fine" (?) b/c I used to use the personal Ads Account, pixel, audiences and catalog and have only newly made a Business Manager for myself. Shame on Facebook for not allowing personal prepaid accounts to be connected to Business Manager. I had to start fresh in many ways.
Anyway, what was your way of solving this mess with the new catalog?
Thx,
Hi @SergioGP, maybe I'm wrong in regards to this particular context but I think you and others are missing an important point. You should add OpenGraph meta tags to your theme.liquid file, just like FB explains here: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/marketing-api/catalog/guides/microdata-tags Of course you have to change them to be dynamic. Here is an example of dynamic OpenGraph meta tags, I used those to enable Rich Product Pins for my Pinterest account: https://www.curiousthemes.com/blog/setup-pinterest-rich-pins-for-shopify
Please if anyone knows how to turn the Facebook OpenGraph meta tags into dynamic Shopify ones *let us know*.
Thanks and my best,
Tom
I have followed what you said, but the event still reports an error and the display does not match. What is the problem? Is there any way to fix it
It did not work for me, with Flexify it keeps giving me the error since the Shopify ID taken by flexify works at group level, not variant and keeps throwing the same error, the managers of Flexify told me that they have to fix Shopify.
but if this application gives me the same problem as the Shopify catalog. Why would it be installed? I need answers
Cant find event data sources
