Google Analytics Tracking Script Load Time

Hi Everyone,

I recently added Google Analytics tracking & enabled Enhanced E-Commerce for Shopify Plus.  I enabled by going to preferences>Google Analytics> added in my tracking ID & checking the enhanced e-commerce box.

When I use Google Tag Assistant, the GA tracking ID loads quickly.  Once I enter the checkout.liquid & place an order, the tracking ID takes anywhere from 2-3 minutes to load in tag assistant or it does not load at all.  When looking at the GA Tag Assistant report I am getting the following error on all checkout.liquid pages: This page did not send a hit, but other recorded pages on the same domain did send hits. Most likely, this page was not properly tagged with the Google Analytics tracking code.

Has anyone run into this issue before & know a resolution?

Dear toates,

Hope you are doing well.

May be you have not placed tag properly or using GA code two times. We need to check your tag placement.

@toates That sounds concerning. Tag Assistant for timing may not be the most reliable way to judge a problem with it. Get a video recording of it for proof with Shopify support so they can easily view it. If they end up deeming it to be a problem that they can also replicate it themselves, the video can help get it solved among teams. Another test you can do is using the Analytics debugging Chrome extension. You will see when various analytics features loads.

@Josh_Uebergang I reached out to Shopify support.  They were able to recreate the issue & confirm that GA is set up correctly.  When using the Analytics debugging extension, I am getting the following error.

If GA is set up correctly, is there any other reason as to why it would not work on only checkout pages?

Thank you & I appreciate your help!

Sometimes other buggy Javascript can interfere with the checkout. You can use the developer tools at checkout then review the console to see what errors appear. Also, review apps that may function at the checkout.
